Stant Diesel Only Locking Fuel Cap, Green

This cap was green (diesel reminder) and reasonably priced. The cap arrived on time and came with 2 keys. Simple operation: locked, the cap goes 'round and 'round and won't come off. Unlocked, it engages the body and unscrews. Definitely would do business again! Highly recommended !

This product DOES fit my 99 F350 7.3L diesel. Without more information I suspect those who have said that it doesn't fit their vehicle have threaded fuel caps whereas this is the snap style cap. If you have a 7.3L diesel with the snap style fuel cap then this is likely the product you need.I just received it today so I haven't been able to use it other than test fitting but it appears to be well made and seems as if it will last. If I have a problem, I will update this review. Otherwise, assume I am happy with the product.

UPDATE: I upgraded my review from 1 star to 4 stars because this cap works great once you figure out how to work it. There should be directions included with this cap to explain that once the cap is put on and locked with the key and key removed, the cap has to be turned clockwise manually till multiple clicks are heard before it will be locked. Not performing this important step of manually turning the cap clockwise till it clicks with the key out of the cap leaves the person feeling the frustration explained below. Some directions included in the box would solve this problem.The cap came with the key in it. It fit on no problem. Turned the key 90⁰ to lock it and had to fight with the key to turn and remove it. Finally got the key out and tried to remove the cap and it came right off. Figured I put it on wrong, so put it back on and put the key in and turned it the opposite 90⁰ and the key wouldn't come out at all. Either way, the key tumbler seems to be pointless because you can twist the cap off and on regardless of the key position. Don't waste your time and money with this product. It's not even worth returning. I will just go to a local parts place and op test one before I buy.....ridiculous

I purchased a NEW diesel fuel cap and was sent a dirty used cap.The box even had NEW on the label. FYI...Dirty and used is NOT new.Returned for a replacement and that one wasn't much better. Pretty crap experience. Do better.

Having to go to the Stant web site for install instructions is insane, include the instructions with the gas cap. Printing the instructions on box itself would be nice. Just putting the cap on and turning key won't lock it, you have to twist the cap clock wise until it clicks a few times, it's than locked. Easy to install once you how secret on how to lock it.

Absolutely nowhere on the package nor the cap does it indicate a Stant product...it even comes in a competitor's box...i cannot fully recommend something that may OR may not be authentic. It is doing the job, but i cannot tell if it works as well as the original at sealing when locked...Why doesn't Stant identify its product somewhere, or is this an import facsimile??They are not telling!!

I gave a bad review previously and it was all my fault because I didn’t understand how it worked. So to be clear now upon using it for a couple of years I must admit that I was wrong. It is of good quality and does its job. Sorry for the first bad review.
