Overall, gets the job done.
I ordered this last minute to tow a small camper with a 2003 expedition. The wiring was already there, and it was plug and play besides soldering it a few wires on the adapter that I picked up at a local auto parts store. It worked beautifully on the trip! I only wish it was a little slower to release the brakes. This really is only noticeable at around - town speeds but, overall, it worked exactly as it should!

Great value
Just what I was looking for , I only gave it 4 stars because if it had a plug to plug into harness it would be quicker installation.

Stop it smooth!!!!
Wow, did not know how crummy my old brake controller was until I installed the Hopkins Reliance 47285! EZ to install especially if you've got the factory harness, my Ram 2500 came equipped with the tow package, just have to splice wires (all wires clearly marked), tape, tuck and mount, pretty simple imo. This unit works better than expected....very smooth stopping and so ez to increase or decrease the amount of trailer brake applied, you wont have to constantly fiddle with your control and the readout will make it a snap to make quick adjustments for different load weights or trailers. I tow a large 2 horse trailer dual axle with a tack rm, also my pals car hauler loaded with a small ford tractor and countless utility trailers, absolutely flawless. Highly recommended, glad I didn't listen to my neighbor and invest $150 or more on one of the pricier units! Must admit not the sexiest looking but we're trying to slow down right, lifetime guarantee, I'll take it, 100% satisfied!

Deceptive ad but turned out fine
Received today, bought the controller and the recommended adapter pigtail. Opened them and found that the controller was not wired to accept the pigtail I paid for.... Can't afford to wait for a new controller so I'll splice it.... if I have any more issues this will go south fast.Turned out fine. I was able to cut the pins off the pigtail and solder them to the controller wites. Installed in less than 10 minutes. Power at 20 and no more load on my truck brakes.

This is the first brake control I have owned. This is a 'timer' style control, which the manual for my Dexter trailer brakes specifically advised against using. It works fine. I'm not going to spend a lot when all I plan to tow is a 3500 lb trailer. I also bought the Hopkins 47275 install kit, which took the procrastination factor out of install. No excuses when everything shows up on your doorstep!

Good unit
I use this brake unit on my 15 ton trailer and haven't had a problem yet and been using the unit heavily. The only thing is the red button is very touchy and lock up all the brakes... but that's not a big deal due to the every day use of a heavy trailer and still working

This works great on our 2009 Frontier pickup using the Hopkins 47635 Plug-in Simple Brake Control cord. I already had a 2 relay tail light control on the truck by the passengers door behind the kick wall. They plugged right in, 15 minute job there. That goes to the electrical plug, I believe they prevent the tow vehicle from blowing the fuses on your tail lights if something goes wrong with it.

works great
The only reason this did not get 5 stars is because this controller did not have a plug on the end, The adapter I got had to be cut and wired. other then that the install time was a total of 15 min with wiring it. Works very well.
