Great way to isolate your biceps
I usually stay away from these types of things, because they are usually gimmicky pos that don't do anything at all..ie the shake weight..I mean really? Not the case here this truly does what it's supposed too and that is to isolate biceps when your curling. I've been lifting since my teens and at thirty years old I think I know a thing or two about lifting. So take my work for it this works as advertised. That being said, it is just one small component of a good workout program. If your not a regular lifter don't buy this unless your planning on becoming a regular lifter with a full body routine, working all your muscles not just your biceps. It you dint lift and your thinking I just want big guns for the summer that's all...DON'T DO IT! Working out just your biceps without a well rounded program will make you look terrible. You will have big arms, tiny little shoulder, no chest no triceps, no traps..it will look plain terrible and I promise you will be embarrassed about the way you look with terribly misshapen muscles. If your serious about lifting you need to work everything, and consistently with proper nutrition and a program that allows for proper rest. For those that lift and know what your doing, this is a good addition to your current workout. Would I say it completely eliminates the need to do preacher curls..maybe that's up to you, and how your arms feel after using this for a while. You know your body, you'll eventually figure it out with some trial and error. I'd say this is also a decent way to change thngs up if you've hit a wall with your biceps and havnt been able to get new growth, this might be the thing to wake your bi's up and overcome that, sometimes when we hit those walls and it seems like nothing will work to get new growth in a certain muscle a small change like this will do the trick. I know how frustrating it is when you hit those walls. So yup five stars for the bicep bomber, no real complaints..it seems like the quality is decent, the foam support on the back of the neck is a bit thin..well no it's really thin..but were talking about lifting weights and lifting hard..if you can feel the padding is too thin your not lifting hard enough and you need to cowboy up..hope this helps, I know I tend to be a bit long winded but I know I appreciate a well rounded review before I buy something.

Works perfect with wide-grip e-z curls, but not with short-grip; still gets 5 stars.
Doing wide grip ez bar curls is very comfortable with this. However, close grip curls don't feel very comfortable. It could be that I am not supposed to use the same weight for close and wide-grips? So it could be partially my fault.I workout my arms at home, and one little issue that I initially had was that when I would bend down to pick up the bar from the floor, the thing would hang on the air and that was annoying and re-posititioning it with the weight on my hands was annoying too. But I found a way to get around this. I just put the weight on my bed now and this way I don't have to bend all the way down. It is easier actually to train my biceps this way because after each set I'm so exhausted that I can't wait to get the weights off of me and since the bed is significantly higher than the floor, the distance I have to pick up/put down the weights has been significantly decreased!Anyway: happy purchase - it does what it's supposed to do - makes sure form is correct when doing ez bar curls. Happy purchase!UPDATE 6/3/12: I'm considering buying a preacher curl instead since it isolates the biceps easier, so I'll probably not use this much anymore.UPDATE 6/21/12: I'm again very happy with this product. I found a way to do close-grip curls comfortably. The wide-grip curls are easy with this. I'm happy with this!

Provides a great bicep workout...
The Body Solid Bicep Bomber is great for what it's meant for - focusing on your biceps. Before I started using this I could lift a lot more weight but that was because I had poor form and was thrusting the weight up with my whole body. This little contraption helps your form and helps you concentrate on working only your biceps. I had to take a couple plates off my barbell the first time because I was so pumped. A couple minor issues though:1. It might be a little overpriced for what it is.2. The straps are thin and of poor quality. I'm afraid they won't last too long but we'll see. And the little neck pad is practically useless.3. I like to workout without a shirt and so when I first use this thing the metal is cold to the touch. They should have added some padding on the inside to make it a little more comfortable. These are minor issues. The benefits you get from working out with the Bicep Bomber outweigh any negative issues.

Preacher curls without the bench!
Ok, I'll admit it, I have pretty terrible curl form - mainly because I'm more into strength training where cheat curls are a tad more acceptable. Or maybe, I just have bad curl form because of my own bad habits. Because of that, I try to throw in preacher curls when I'm at the gym. Problem is I'm more of a home gym guy and don't have a preacher curl bench, nor do I want one. It takes up so much space. So, I saw this at $30 and figured what the heck, worst case I'm out $30.When I got it, I couldn't wait to try it and do a few sets. Wow, it works great. It's basically the same as a preacher bench but without requiring the added room in your garage. Also, like Arnold says in his encyclopedia, it does a great job working the lower bicep, which I have deficiencies. Just make sure to put a lot less weight on it.Getting the strap to the right length takes a little bit of time but it's worth it. Look at the picture in Arnold's The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding : The Bible of Bodybuilding, Fully Updated and Revised if you need a hand checking where it should be on you. I needed a visual pointer myself.Really cool device, well made and built to last. Highly recommended if you have bad curl form or want preacher curls sans the bench.
