Mad Catz Street Fighter V Arcade FightStick TE2+ for PlayStation4 and PlayStation3

Unboxing this fight stick was like Christmas morning as a child. Reminded me of unboxing my PS4! The packaging looks great, and it was easy to open. You can look at pictures of this thing all you want, but when you see it IRL and get it in your hands, this fight stick looks and feels fantastic. It has some weight to it, but it makes it feel very secure. Even though a lot of it is plastic, nothing feels cheap. This thing is a tank!As the description says, this fight stick is super easy to mod. There are several YouTube videos showing you how to modify it, and the stick itself comes with directions. I'm not a competent handyman by any stretch of the imagination, but I've modified mine a fair amount and will do more in the future, I'm sure.There is a learning curve when it comes to switching to a fight stick. If you use this for Street Fighter V, expect to spend time in training mode learning the basics again, but once you start to understand the mechanics, it all comes together nicely. You will have to invest a lot of time into it, but the return is an amazingly rewarding feeling. Some people prefer a fight stick to the controller, but it goes both ways. There are pros that still use a controller so stick to whatever is comfortable to you. I will say that, for me, a fight stick feels more natural. I'm sure there are people that feel the opposite. The fight stick has elevated my ability higher than it was before, but that's because I've put more time into learning the game and how to use the stick.Using a fight stick took me back to when I was a kid. I spent a LOT of time at the local skating rink sinking quarter after quarter after quarter into the Street Fighter 2 arcade cabinet. Bums me out that arcades are a dead medium (at least, in my area it is) but having this fight stick helps ease that pain. If you're looking for a high end fight stick, I highly suggest this one. I've read reviews where people say that their power cord has gone out, and there isn't a place to buy a new one - but I've also heard that the Mad Catz customer support will send you a new one if you contact them.Overall, this is my new favorite thing. If you're willing to put the time in, this fight stick is a lot of fun. If you spent any time in an arcade as a kid, it's very nostalgic. The Mad Catz TE2+ gets 5 well deserved stars from me.

Was looking around to see what stick I'd want as my first fight stick, decided to go with this and see how it would work for me.I use this fight stick on PC. Drivers are available at the mad catz website.Appearance - The overall appearance of the entire thing is pretty nice, the plastic doesn't look in any way cheap or flimsy. Feels strong and looks clean. Very easy to open up, dont need to unscrew anything to get a look inside of it so it's very easy to swap any components out if you'd desire. Some reviewers were/are reporting some part of it to creek/squeak(?) Mine doesnt have this issue. The bottom part of the the entire "pad" has material that will keep it from slipping around on tables or most surfaces.Stick and buttons - Both the stick and buttons feel pretty good ALTHOUGH I will say that I wish the buttons had a bit more of a -clicky- feel to it in that... I wish I could feel them "click" every time I pushed down on them. They're fine the way they are but I'm very certain I will swap them out later on down the road. Stick feels good, although it comes with a square gate, thought it came with an octagonal one but I'll just learn how to play it with the square.Art - What's there to say about this? It's the official Ryu Capcom art, it's nice, easy to swap out.Weight - It's a lot heavier than I thought but it's not heavy enough that you'd say it'll be annoying to have in your lap for an extended period of time. You certainly wont have it slipping out of your lap either.Once again to make it clear, this is my first fight stick, I am no professional and am merely a casual player. Decided to get it for the sake of wanting to have one and learn it. I can certainly pull off moves I otherwise was unable to with a controller. First day, no issues. I'll update it later on and see how things continue to go for me.

The stick is great overall with a few minor things some have went over already but I'll reiterate.PROSThe stick feels great compared to my older SFIV TE Stick. The buttons are a smooth and responsive, the stick feels quite a bit more responsive to me. The best thing is how you can open it up with a push of the button, comes with the driver you need to mod it space for spare buttons cables etc.The other thing that I like about this stick over the older one is if you are a lap player like myself. The bottom is flat, has a nice foam padding that covers it all and it feels good in your lap compared to the older stick with feet which dig in after some long sessions. The surface is also better, it is low profile and doesn't press into your wrists.I like the pro cable but had some issues which others have mentioned but Mad Catz sorted it out for me w/o any issues at all.CONSI got this stick for $183 on sale, it goes for $229 or so normally which seems a bit overpriced to me. The chassis does seem to squeak around where the latch is, I've heard of folks using a little bit of tape around the latch which clears up the squeak, it doesn't bother me that much. The USB pro cable, while nice that it is modular is a specialty item and not easily found.There have been some quality issues with the cable where it would disconnect or was damaged.OTHERI recommend contacting Mad Catz support as I did, they shipped me a brand new braided cable with a break away on it unlike the OEM one as a replacement. It seems much better, they gave me 0 hassle. I'm very impressed with their service in this regard. They didn't hassle me about the cable, pics, etc they just provided me with a replacement cable right away and its much improved.It would be nice if they shipped these with this cable from the start in my opinion.
