Lifeproof FRĒ SERIES Waterproof Case for LG G5 - Retail Packaging - BLACK

Phone worked great under water. Must read directions before use and give it a water test. I placed a tissue paper inside and made sure everything was sealed closed and clamped before giving it a water test without the phone inside. After it was left under water for 2 minutes I then took out the phone and dried off the case then took the case apart to check the status of the tissue paper and it was perfectly dry and kept the water out. I then cleaned it with the micro-fabric towel it comes with and then placed my phone inside for a water test. Before doing so I made sure I backed up my phone just in case! Directions say that the case can only go under water about 6 feet max! I placed my phone in the pool with the wide angle recording on and ever thing looked really high def and I can even hear the pool machine on under water. After recording for about 3 minutes I took my phone inside to make sure my phone did not have any water damage on it. After taking the case off my phone was 100% dry. I then got ready to go swimming and was in the water with my phone for over 30 minutes and everything was recording great. I even managed to have music playing with recording and the sound recorded perfect. I did notice that the sensitivity is of the finger on the screen can be a little challenging here and there but that was no problem only when I started using snap chat and went from recording on top of the water then went under water the video stopped recording because I guess the water impact was too sensitive. I took me a couple tries but I found out it was best to hold the volume button key down and was recording great under water and jumping in the water for the LG G5 users. Overall I have had a great experience with this case going under water instead of buying a go pro or other means. I wouldn't recommend diving past 6 feet though because of the pressure. Well I hope this helps just make sure you have it water tested before placing your phone and the case under water!!!

I purchased this item for $30. I had an Otterbox Defender, but I hated how bulky it was. The rubber never quite fit correctly over the plastic, either. I researched the best case for the LG G5 and I found this.The item came quickly, and upon opening the box up and reading the instructions, I did a preliminary water test. I submerged the case in water for 30 minutes, and the inside was completely dry. I then placed my phone inside (placing the phone inside with no dust in between the screen and the built in screen protector was difficult, but made easier by the included cloth) and tested out all the features. Since this is a completely sealed case, I was afraid that the proximity sensor, cameras, fingerprint scanner, and other features would not work, but they do.The only negatives I have found so far are that the external speaker is a little quieter than usual, and the plastic over the camera can cause a glare looking at bright lights in dark environments. These are small prices to pay for a very well made case that adds very little bulk to the device for the features it provides.

I do construction and a lot of vigorous yard-work -- my last Lifeproof case had to be replaced because I'd run over it with my truck, scratched it over and over with concrete blocks while it was hanging from my belt, dropped it in paint, dropped paint on it, dropped it onto concrete from a 10 foot ladder, etc., etc., etc. -- everything still worked fine -- but I got tired of looking at that poor beat up case, so I bought I new case during the Prime sale. When I took my phone out (after three years in the previous Lifeproof FRE), it looked absolutely brand spanking new -- and now the case does, too. :)I can't recommend this case highly enough.

So I'm going to be brutally honest here. This is FAR from being life proof. There are 2 extremely important pieces that make this case waterproof: a rubber o-ring that goes around the phone, and a rubber insert that goes in the charging access port. It's been 6 months and the charging port access rubber is gone, fell out, not once, but 5 times, and I couldn't find it this time. In no way shape or form is my case waterproof any more, not that I ever dared to test it. And here's why I never tested it: It's not dust proof. I have on 3 occasions had to take the case apart to clean off the screen. Think about that for a minute. Not only have I had to open it up to clean out excess dust that I could FEEL under the screen protector, but I've had to clean out dog hair and other things that shouldn't be able to get in a case that calls itself "Lifeproof". It's a bad design, but I got it at a bargain price, I just won't be buying another at anywhere near retail. It does a great job protecting from drops, and so I'll keep using it, but I'll be replacing the screen protector and camera covers with better options.

I tested when I first got it and it failed its water proof test. I wasn't planning on using it for this purpose so I kept the case. Has protected my phone from many falls and tumbles. The seal for the charging door was lost very quickly. I've had this case for 5 months. The lens cover on the back has now micro scratched and fogged and now, even with a good cleaning will not take as clear of a photo as achieved without the case. The coating has worn too much. I will probably re-buy this same case however, it is still good protection.

Almost perfect design. The cover for the power connector is excellent, opens and closes very well, like a small, hinged door.The headphone jack is a threaded plug with a VERY short connector. It seems far too easy to get it cross threaded. It is also a fairly small opening, hence the included headphone adapter, a very skinny plug with a normal jack in a shirt wire. I wish they had used a similar hinged door covering the headphone jack, large enough for most mini jack connectors.Overall, this 40 year engineer is impressed.

Passed the water test when brand new the following week I went on holiday. Put the phone and case in no more than 10cm of water, it leaked and water damaged my LGG5 phone and voided warranty. Avoid at all cost it is not waterproof. Money was returned by seller..

i bought this cause i got a boat and if i drop it in the water, i want it to be ok (now all phones are going water proof so...)though mine was fine for water, for some reason, mine kept getting dust under the screen. probably from it getting in through the headphone jack and the usb c. didn't happen right away but over a week or two, there would be stuff on the screen. to ensure this is water proof, follow the instructions, test it without your phone first in some water for like half an hour or something (i just took it in the shower lol) the light blue seal around the edges is super important, make sure it sits completely flush with where it should be.Not bad, it works, just too big for me now and slightly finicky.

Great case that will keep my phone in good shape for a long time and not as bulky as some of the lifeproof cases.One downside is that the phones ambient light and proximity sensors seem to work at less than 100% when the phone is in the case, which can cause some issues. A quick google search shows that this is a common issue and not just something I've experienced.Shame it's so expensive. (last lifeproof case I purchased was for an iPhone and was less than half the price).04/17/2018 - I had hoped that this somewhat expensive and supposedly robust case would actually protect my phone. Around the 4 month mark the sealing rubber at the usb port popped out. I put it back in, and realizing that it was simply a friction fit did my best to ensure that every time I opened the USB cover it stayed put, but it only takes a moment of inattention and that piece is now gone, the case is no longer waterproof.On top of that the plastic covering the camera lens area is far too thin to offer any real protection and the glass over my camera lens is now broken, (thankfully it's an easy and relatively cheap fix on this phone), the plastic covering itself has been pierced so there is now one more point of ingress for water as well..This case offers reasonable protection, but nowhere near as good as you would hope or expect from something so bulky and expensive.

Really happy with the protection. The built in screen protector is really nice and I like the cover for the charging port and headphone jack seeing as I dropped my previous phone in a puddle that inevitably killed it. It's kind of difficult to put the case on the very first time and I found that removing it was also a bit tough (a good thing really). My one real complaint is that the headphone opening is a bit too small for some headphones so be aware that your existing headphones may need some DIY shaving down or you need to buy headphones that will fit properly with the case. Other than that, it's a solid case 10/10 would recommend. It really makes me feel like I could smash my phone on the ground with the same amount of force as a really happy football player who just scored a touchdown* and still be so safe that I feel like I'm being swaddled with the fluffiest blanket you've ever laid eyes on. Great times, man.*I have not actually done this and I do not condone it.

It's a very slippers case. Like super slippery. They should add rubber or something for grip.Also the plastic that is over the fingerprint recognition blocks the fingerprint. You would have to cut it off if you wanted that feature to work.Also is SUPERRRR TIGHT going in the case. I tried to get it out and was unable.I looks nice.
