Excellent quality, Comfortable Petticoat, Perfect for Ball Gown, Victorian Costume, Etc.
I bought this petticoat to wear over a hoop skirt with my Dickensian/Victorian Christmas caroling costume (made from Simplicity #1818). My dress has a 186" hem circumference; VERY full and VERY heavy. First I tried it with a hoop skirt, but it didn't really "come to life" until I put this petticoat on in between the hoops and the dress. This is a very full, well-made, comfortable petticoat that swishes elegantly when I walk. The layers of ruffled netting between slippery lining fabric create a smooth line to the skirt of my dress, removing any itch factor from the netting and preventing the netting from getting hung up on seam allowances or other construction elements that may be on the inside of the skirt. The petticoat is sufficiently full to give that extra oomph that I needed beyond my hoop skirt, and it also solved the problem of the metal rings of my hoop skirt creating visible ridges on the outside of my skirt. Worth every penny -- I will be wearing this skirt with my costume for years. However, I found that the skirt ran a bit large. I normally wear a size 10, sometimes an 8 if sizing is really generous, so I ordered a medium, but I probably would have been better off with a small. It has a Velcro closure at the waistband and when I adjust that to the smallest fit possible the waist is still fitting quite loosely. It's not an issue for me that the petticoat is sitting below my natural waistline because I'm tall, but for a shorter woman it might make the petticoat too long. Consider ordering a size smaller if you have an hourglass figure (small waist in comparison to your hip size).

Good for the price
Like another reviewer, I bought this for use with a Victorian and Renaissance costume. I was very pleased to see it fit over my large hoop. It is voluminous enough that no dreaded hoop-lines will show through my skirt. It's also full enough to be used with some skirts alone to provide a measure of fullness - probably not as large on its own as the picture that illustrates the listing, but nice enough that the skirt doesn't lay limp against the legs. The petticoat is comprised of an over-skirt of plain white satin (the cheap, shiny kind used in costumes.) Beneath are two layers of stiff and scratchy plastic netting, each with a full ruffle at the bottom, and then an underskirt of satin with a ruffle of the netting at the exterior hem, so the netting isn't scratchy against the skin. The waist band has a velcro closure.Mine had a bad cut at the hem of one of the layers of netting which left a piece of the ruffle dangling. I actually tore it off because it wouldn't effect the garment for my use, but I can imagine someone being upset by this. It's not an heirloom quality piece, but for prom dresses and costume use, it would work great.

Very full- that part is great, but my daughter is 5'6" and wishes it ...
Very full, but 6 in from the floor when drawn to the natural waist line. Very full- that part is great, but my daughter is 5'6" and wishes it would be a few inches longer.

Very full
This was really great for my wedding dress, and so much cheaper than ordering from a bridal store. I ended up also getting a hoop for underneath it and together it was perfect!
