It works great as a sous-vide siphon, too!
This isn't its advertised purpose, but I've found this product great for another use: draining the hot water from an immersion tank or large pot after doing sous-vide cooking. Especially if you use a large (5+ gallon) Lexan tank, it can be a big pain and somewhat dangerous to pour out so much hot water into the sink. But if you put your sous-vide gear near your sink, you can use this instead! Here's how: just pull the bite-valve off (it comes off with a tug for cleaning): that end becomes the outflow into your sink. The adapter end is the intake, and you just have to put it against the bottom of the full tank and secure it with a sliding lid or a clip. The plastic nubbins on the adapter, meant for fitting it to a CamelBak bottle, are useful here because they keep the intake from stopping up due to suction against the tank floor. Then, to drain the tank, just suck on the other end (where the bite valve used to be, with the yellow switch) until the tank water reaches one-half to two-thirds along its length, then stop sucking and close the yellow valve switch; this way, you don't have to suck hot water into your mouth, and the closed valve will keep the siphon primed. Then just drop that end into your sink, lower than the level of the tank bottom, and open the yellow valve. Voilà, an easy and safe siphon! The adapter's shape keeping it from blocking, its valve, and its thick tubing which allows you to use it without waiting for your cooking water to cool make it a much superior choice to ordinary flexible tubing. In a typical 5–10 gallon Lexan tank, if you secure the adapter at the very bottom of the tank, when the siphon's done you'll be left with little enough water to mop up with a paper towel. And yes, it works great for its intended purpose, too—but I bought a second one so I didn't have to keep moving it and (re)attaching the bite valve.

It was easy to use right out of the package.
Picked this up to have on hand for two 1 liter CamelBak Eddy bottles that I use for backpacking trips. I don't have a hydration bladder, and I figured this would save me from always having to reach back to grab a bottle. It was easy to use right out of the package. Just pop off the bite nozzle and replace it with the appropriate end piece. The other side of the tube functions as the bite nozzle would. Suction was good and water flow was consistent. My primary complaint is that an adjustable clip or hook would be helpful. The tube is not particularly long, so it was too short to try and feed through the hydration bladder slot in my pack. Had to get creative to try and keep it accessible and secure. The ability to clip it onto a shirt or hook it onto a pack or bike rack would likely be of benefit to many who would consider picking this up. That aside, it served its purpose and will continue to accompany me on future trips.

Good for your Eddy water bottle.
Great product. I read the negative reviews 1st before ordering so I thought I'd put in my 2-cents after I received mine. I read several reviews that said it didn't fit their Camelbak bladder, Well that's because it's an Eddy bottle adapter as noted in the product description. Some complained it was too short? Well it states that it is 28", pretty clear. I measured mine and it's actually almost 30". I think this is an awesome product allowing me to convert the bottles I already have to hands free. Just remove your mouthpiece and attach the hose. Quality of the materials is first rate. I always feel that negative reviews due to the buyers errors are unfair. Check that the item is compatible for your use. Check if 28" is going to be long enough for the way you expect to use this. Cut a piece of string to 28" and test the idea you have out. I've seen reviews of a lot of products that complain "it didn't fit" when dimensions are clearly given. So.....if you have an Camelbak Eddy bottle & 28" is long enough for you, this is a great product!

It works!
I have a couple camelbak bladders, which are working great. I also have two Eddy bottles that I use on a daily basis and this seemed like a good accessory. It's very easy to install and remove and use - and the bite valve and tube are narrower and smaller than those on the bladders (to me that isn't a big deal). It does seem to pick up just a little air in the process. I'm just not sure if it's the tube, the straw or I didn't have it on tightly enough. Overall I think it's a good product and I will be buying more for family who have similar bottles.

Works beautifully
This is my second CamelBak Bottle hose. This first one was for an older model bottle which worked very well but did not fit the new bottle. The new hose connects very well with my one liter bottle and even seems to create its own additional very strong suction connection once one has primed it by drinking ( when disconnecting from the bottle, pinch the bite valve to break the suction) . So, fits quite tight and works very well. The parts of the previous hose pulled apart (with some difficulty) to help cleaning but the new hose does not seem to. I do not find this a problem at all, just squeeze the bite valve open with your fingers and run water from the other end and/or use hose brush. I carry my bottle in a backpack bottle holder and weave the hose through parts of the backpack's harness to front of Backpack. One could clip the bottle on the backpacks carry loop and secure bottle in the main compartment. I prefer the bottle and hose over the bladder with hose because cleaning is quicker with the bottle and one liter of water is enough for my two hour plus walkabouts.

Love it. Hard to find locally!
I actually bought this last year and have now gone to hydration pack. I used it for a 300 mile hike and it worked awesome.this was a great buy. I do still use it on small hikes.it was a good deal because they aren't easy to find in many stores. Just make sure you have the correct adaptable lid on your container.

Will not work with Kids Eddy water bottle
Will not work with the kids Eddy waterbottle, which is what I wanted it for for the smaller size... That is not on the description here but is on the back of the packaging. So I'll be send the kids bottles back and just deal with the larger bottle. 4 stars just becasue I can't really test it until I get the full size bottle and can try it. It will fit inside my dirt bike helmet.

Macht 2 Punkte Abzug.

Love this adapter
I used this adapter to make my drinking bottle a sippy bottle. I used it for 6 weeks on a daily basis and it worked very well. It allowed me to have quick access to my water bottle without the hassle of pulling it out of my backpack to refill or check the water level as I had it tucked into the side pocket of my backpack. My only issue is that I had to purchase the Camelbak drinking bottle to go with it. This ended up costing $40 for the outfit.

great idea
I haven't used this yet on a hike but it fits the camelbak bottle well and has a tight seal. I think I'm going to love it. I had a cheaper version of this idea for a long distance hike last year and the valve broke. I wasn't able to find a valve replacement so I think this one should be a better option for finding replacement parts. I love the option of having this on a bottle as it tastes way better than a water bladder and provides the ease of taking a drink while backpacking.

Dispositif assez pratique
