Excellent filter media with other uses
Usually this media is used in canister filters for its mechanical/biological filtration. This ceramic media is dimpled and slightly rough to further increase the surface area. I did a little experiment and added it to the bottom of an inorganic orchid Leica and volcanic stone mixture. I like the fact that the increased surface area acts to hold moisture for roots.

Worked great! I used this in my aquaponic system to help new fish acclimate. Within 3 days the fish stopped dying and it helped clear the water. I plan to use it continuously.

Really did a great job- water clear and no odor
This fit well in one side of the basket tray in my Hydor 350. The carbon bag is much bulkier and you can check out my review on it under that product. The combo of this and the carbon really cleared my fish tank water and get rid of some foul ordors. I change the tank water ⅓ as recommended monthly; don't have an over abundance of fish but still got an ordor. All gone using the Hydor filter media!

Incredible....nay....miraculous?
I had some damage done to my home during the Halloween storm and some animals got into the crawl space. I didn't discover it until the weather got warm and the stench started to come up into my living space. So I filled a few extra large tea bags with some of this zeolite, and dropped them into my heating ducts, under the grates. I never thought of it again, until I realized that I haven't smelled anything in weeks. It must be the zeolite that fixed it. It can't be anything else. I had better order some more now, before the price goes up.

ware a good particulate filter mask to protect yourself from fine dust ...
Zeolite is supposed to be highly effective is collecting certain chemical components/contaminants in the water, such as metal elements. This zeolite does contain trace amount of Thorium232 and its daughter isotopes, and thus slightly radioactive. It's nothing compared to old Thorium lantern mantle, though. To be cautious, ware a good particulate filter mask to protect yourself from fine dust when you are handling this.

Zeolite works and can last for longer than you think. !!!
Helps greatly with setting up new aquariums. Ammonia and Nitrites are deadly and this stuff in your filter will really help. I use a Fluval 101 external filter and use half of the box one week , then use the other half the next week. While the second week goes on wash your wet Zeolite and the leave it in brine (salty water ) and then dry it out for the third week and so on. The box should last 3-4 months ,if you keep regenerate it time after time in salty water (warm brine is quicker to force out the ammonia from the used Zeolite so you can keep it for as long as possible.
