Excellent for portraits in event photography and for objects in advertising photography.
I've wanted to buy this lens for my Canon camera for a long time because many forums describe it as an ideal lens for close-ups, both in low-light (or artificial) and natural light. Indeed, it is. Portraits of people look spectacular. I haven't yet tried it on wider shots of groups of people, but I think that knowing your camera as a work tool will give you optimal results. It's also a good lens for designers and artists because it focuses on the subject and blurs the background in a very natural and artistic way. Before, I had to use Photoshop to blur the background in photos to make them look more professional; now with this lens, the work hours are reduced. Now I'm trying to capture smaller objects, the size of small cars (Hot Wheels), and I'm not sure about the results, but I know that with a little practice on this project with this lens, it will lead me to the photos I want.

Affordable - Well Worth It!
This is a fantastic portrait lens. Been using for head shots, pics of my nieces and nephews, pet pictures, and some product photography. Super clear. Using on canon 90d which has 1.6 zoom factor so this lens acts more like an 80mm on my camera so you have to step back from the subject a decent amount, but still great to shoot with once you get used to it! Highly recommend for beginner lens

Great lens
Definitely gets the job done but I need more like a 1.2 instead of a 1.8.

The new nifty-fifty is worth every cent
For the price this is a fantastic lens. Just search nifty fifty and you’ll see tons of reviews to support this. But I had the previous model and relied on it so much I decided to update to the newer (slightly more expensive) model. Which is even better. Same optics but quiet focus (great for video if you have a tripod or stabilizer) and closer minimum focus distance. Both improvements on the old.
