Q: Will it crush dried butterflies?

The outer square frame is a harder plastic, the interior almost feels like thicker plastic wrap. Depends how big the butterflies are, I used these to gift a coin and protect it. The size I ordered was pretty small. The middle is very soft and flexible so it could potentially work, just verify measurements because if the wings lay outside of the clear plastic and the frame closes on it, probably would crush it.

Q: What is the transparent membrane made of? Is it thick saran wrap?

That's exactly what it feels like, super industrial-grade Saran wrap. It's surprisingly stretchy and durable. Supposedly you can even reuse them if you'll heat the plastic with a hair dryer to shrink it back in place.

Q: Would this fit enamel pins (width wise)?

It depends on the size of enmel pin. The size of this one is 2.75 * 2.75 * 0.75 inches.

Not Perfection, But Plenty Good Enough

This worked wonderfully for my dried flowers and a dead butterfly I found! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is simply because up close you can see the air bubbles and where the two plastic pieces come together. For some people that really matters, I'm not one of those people. This works amazingly for what I needed it for. I love how pretty my flowers and butterfly look on my shelf. It's not perfection, but for the price, and these being little things I just collected from the dirt, its completely worth it.
