My grandson and I have been watching magnet fishing on YouTube and thought it would be fun to try it ourselves. I ordered a magnet from somewhere on line. It was ok, but really not the greatest. I decided to look for a stronger one and found this one here on Amazon. WOW! This thing is amazing. My grandson stuck it to the iron anvil in the garage and we could NOT GET IT OFF! Not just by pulling it anyway. We had to slide it off and it was still holding really good. This is a strong magnet. My only concern, is if it connects itself to something that is too heavy to lift out of the water (if you are magnet fishing in bodies of water) you might not be able to get your magnet back! This thing is STRONG. If you are looking for a strong, affordable magnet? This is it!

So, I bought this kit last summer. The first thing I did was weld the eyebolt on, so it definitely wouldn't come off. The magnet stuck to my metal table so hard I had to beat it to the edge with a block of wood and a hammer. I then took it out many times. I didn't really get much, but like real fishing, that's how it goes. Today, I wasn't paying attention and the magnet ended up stuck to the side of a bridge. It's still there now. I couldn't pull it off. My wife and I couldn't pull it off. I hooked the rope onto my 4 wheel drive vehicle, and it still didn't budge. So, I am now without a magnet and rope. I promise, this magnet is very powerful on a flat, clean surface, which is what the rating is for. Most everything under water is rusty, dirty, and covered with scale. That means you need a lot more magnet than you think you do. But, you need to be careful of that power. Do not let it adhere to a nice, flat surface, if you can help it. You will lose it. But, that's how it goes. You're going to lose it eventually. As soon as it hits something heavy enough that you can't lift it, you're done. It's a fun hobby, and I'm buying more magnets right now, but know that buying any magnet is not your final purchase. You will almost definitely lose it eventually.

I am giving it a 4 only because the tape around the rope comes off easily. I tied the the rope around the carabiner to make sure it did not come off. Otherwise, it was great. I do recommend leaving the thread lock on over night before using.

Well made, securely packaged, works wonderfully. Using it mainly for yard clean-up. Grandsons love it!

I bought two of these for my kids and they love them. magnet is pretty strong and can pick up a good amount of weight. good quality and comes with everything you need to go out magnet fishing.

Did not come with grappling hook like box and order indicated. Magnet seems okay but haven’t used in water yet. Rope and gloves seem mediocre.

Despite tightening and checking the bolt thread, the magnet fell off the first day we tried it out. My son was sobbing- it ruined our day. I do not recommend buying this unless you want a public meltdown from your kid.
