Jetson V8 vs. Segway miniPRO
A comparison between 2 options for personal mobility: Segway miniPRO (Segway miniPRO | Smart Self Balancing Personal Transporter with Mobile App Control (Black))vs. Jetson V8 (a.k.a. Epikgo )Both are HEAVY. Not unmanageable, but heavier than you think, especially if you've tried the "toy" versions. The weight has to be considered if you plan to lug it with you into places that don't allow riding it.SIZE matters! The weight is matched by their size. Take a look at the pics! These devices are not toys. How's the RIDE?miniPRO - is more forgiving to first time riders. The "knee-bar-joystick" logically separates the steering action from the forward/backward action of the footboard. First timers can just concentrate on "balance" (getting familiar with board trying to compensate for imbalance - front to back) and just work on moving forward & backward. Next step is to lean the "knee-bar-joystick" left or right to turn the Segway. Finally, combine the two actions and you're good. The ride is what you'd expect - you're on wheels! Remember the first time you learned to ride a bike? Same. Then it becomes second nature. There is a level of "luxury" (probably just my imagination) that comes from the larger wheels and the effective balance algorithm employed by the Segway - this is a bonus for first-time riders. My 9-year old is able to mount/dismount with trepidation and even then the Segway is working to keep her steady. Again, more forgiving. The footboard area is larger that other hoverboard devices, which provides a better sense of stability. The APP is okay if you like your phone battery to be drained faster that you've ever seen. Read the other reviews for more details. You have access to the settings and dashboard information. Once you set it all up you don't need it if you just wanna ride the thing. The "speed restriction" and "auto lean back" annoyances that everyone has talked about - not an issue for me - I've not encountered them - and I'm guessing it's in the firmware of the machine and not in the code of the app. Temper this with my status: I'm a cautious/casual rider who just enjoys being transported on a novel device. I'm not pushing the boundaries of the device to achieve max velocity - just faster than walking, a nice jog, definitely not sprinting, although it certainly feel capable!Segway minPRO - Bottom Line: It's fun! Easy to learn to ride!Jetson V8 (a.k.a. Epikgo) - a tank version of the "toy" hover boards everyone has seen and tried. The drive action is the same: steering AND forward/backward action are controlled by the angle of both feet/stance simultaneously. It takes an addition level of concentration to keep the two actions in sync, especially for first-time riders. It's less forgiving for those not familiar with concept and haven't yet developed the dexterity to master an enjoyable ride. It's easy to learn, but the learning curve can be unsettling & steep for those who have trouble with balance & coordination - just watch those fail-hover board videos. For it size, the footboard seems shallow - it could be a tad deeper - your heel/toe will dangle off the edge. Not a big deal, but it could add to the comfort/enjoyment.The Jetson Ride Ready APP is okay - seems to be a power drain like the ninebot Segway app. You don't need it to just ride the thing, but you get access to settings and dashboard info. There's 3 "quick" settings: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each affecting Max Speed, Driving Force, and Steering Sensitivity accordingly. This helps those of us who are less coordinated make the transition easier. You can customize each setting to your individual needs. I use Intermediate to achieve an enjoyable ride experience.Jetson V8 - Bottom line: FUN, but be ready to take a spill if you have trouble with coordination AND balance simultaneously. Rugged and it will show its abuse quickly. (The fenders scrape the ground when its pivoted too far.) I deduct 1 star for the floppy resting state - when it is at rest and you didn't pay attention to its orientation, it will rotate/pivot either forward on backward and the fenders will hit/drag on the ground. OR, if you wipe out the fenders will take the most damage! Along with that deduction, is intrusive nature of the APP, but it tracking your location and activities - you have the option to bypass, but its still creepy to think that you could be tracked by this thing.COMPARISON:Jetson is more rugged, more parts made of metal (like the fenders). Segway has plastic fenders and I wouldn't feel good about it being dropped or hitting objects - feels like the parts will break or crack much sooner than the Jetson. The Jetson is a tank, where the Segway is a passenger car. Both will stand up to regular use, but the Jetson feels like it will take more abuse. The Segway is better for beginners and will grow with more advance riders. The Jetson does have a beginner setting, but the overall ride experience requires more coordination & balance especially when learning - the fun begins with the advanced setting - no limitations other than the inherent restrictions, but at least there's no nanny! Both are well worth the special price during the recent Black Friday and Today's Deals, etc. - they we both the same price (599)!We are keeping both... they each have their quirks, but build quality, apps, and most of all ride enjoyment make them the best bang for the buck for personal mobility devices!

Simply Awesome
I was amazed when the Box arrived the first thing it says when you open it up here's your scooter all charged and ready to ride call their Bluff took it out of the box on the floor and I was riding around my house within minutes. I did download the app and that's great because this is a Bluetooth connection with a rather nice stereo with a built underneath it bounces the Bluetooth based off of the concrete in back up in front of you the colors are changeable on the lights to an infinite number of patterns and whatever you want to do there it's got several different settings so that you can just not only the speed of the torque on the current ratio and things like that. I will tell you now I have a broken back I can barely walk without a cane and when I stepped on this thing it was so forgiving that I was able to ride this few feet with absolutely no problems whatsoever and I greatly enjoy riding it outside it does go through thick grass I wanted to call their Bluff again and they do not lie sand and grass it goes through with no problems what what else is great as you can set it with a password so your kids can't go very fast you can turn the speed down and then back up again when you're ready to use it it's got a GPS so again your children or anyone else takes it you can find it immediately and it also keeps track of your rides this is easily the great tool to bring to the park and check out all the nice paved trails and this will keep your miles your terrain everything you done and all of the music you listen to putting it to your phone's memory again simply put awesome

Number one only wanted perfect flat surface
This was number 3, first one battery died and never worked again, number 2 arrived and was damaged when opened very leery of spending even more money for this one at the highest price of the three (all different companies). But because it was number one thing my 8 year old grandson wanted for Christmas and he even at his young age had some idea of the cost of these things said he would be alright with him just getting the hoover board even if it was the only gift he got as he wanted it so badly. So number 3 arrived and as promised came out of the box with a fully charged battery, the difference in this from everything else we have seen is the tires and the strength of the motor on this thing. Number one only wanted perfect flat surface, number 2 if it would have been undamaged would have been the same. This baby will go almost anywhere, wet, dry, up hill uneven surfaces, across the lawn, you get the picture. We didn't have the opportunity to try snow as we had none but I can't tell you how glad I was for the two bad runs before I found this one. And I have one extremely happy little grandson. He loves it and we are thrilled that this manufacturer made one that is basically all terrain and therefore a truly usable product for most kids. He learned to ride it remarkably well in a very short period of time, his dad after a couple tumbles gave it up.

My son said "BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!!"
I bought this for my 11yr old son. We live in a rural area with not a lot of pavement around and this hover board does the trick. He can ride through the yard or through the house on the carpet without any trouble. He loves it.

Good board, fast and big. EDIT UPDATE 12.20.17
So far so good. Seems sturdy and reliable. My son likes it and he gets a lot of comments whereever he takes it about how large it is compared to other hover boards. People ask if it is an off road hoverboard because of the wheels and size, and I thin he likes that. It is fast as well and he is easily able to control it. The board is heavy though.Update: So, about a month ago he had a friend riding it and and for some reason the right and left sides were rotated and not matching up. the friend forced it to line up and from that point it will not work at all. no power. It seems that this was some kind of problem form the beginning and we should have done something about it. We did not register the board with the company so I think they may not honor the warranty as a result, we will see how they handle this and I will update again. If they take care of it then I fully support the product if they don't then, of course I will not. I will update one way or the other.
