Really good heater for small chicken coop.
This is our third sweeter heater and the oldest one (12 years) is still working just as well as the day we bought it. Yes they are expensive, but they are completely safe, very durable, and greatly appreciated by the chickens. Well worth the investment.

FREEZING FERALS NO MORE FINALLY!
Hot like a lightbulb only if you rest your hand on it. Animals know better than that. They can sense not to go right up against it! I absolutely love this for my feral cat house! I have this screwed to the roof of dog house and I use K&H outdoor pet heat mat for the bottom. Use a blanket that won’t melt against a light bulb and outdoor cats are completely warm! Luv luv luv this thing! Also put reflectix on walls to bounce any heat and body heat back to animals without escaping(heat)! I do leave a hand towel as a door flap cuz it’s soft and they know how to open the hand towel door and this way it shuts itself after they enter and allowing air circulation which is super important for this heater or any heat to work! Face the door opening towards a building to block wind, rain etc and it’s a perfect combo! This heater literally saved my 3 ferals! it’s not for atmosphere heat although with the added insulation it certainly DOES warm the dog house nicely! Can’t live without it now! I’m so less stressed knowing there’s a SAFE and inexpensive way to keep these animals from freezing to death! One cat used it 3 nights in a row -7 degrees and he was so warm when I checked in on the house and cat! Seriously every animal owner weather chicken, dog or cat should have these especially good for barn animals and side mounting also!

Not too sure about this product.
I bought this to use in a PVC enclosure that houses a snake. It is controlled by a thermostat and seems to do its job for the most part. However, the fumes are absolutely unbearable. I ran it for a few hours straight before installation. I had all the windows open and it was a very strong smell. After installation, I ran it at least 4 hours a day for 3 days and I am still getting strong fumes. I have not put my snake in the enclosure with it due to the fumes, but it does make a nice hot spot. The other issue I have is the temp of the heating element. The highest temp I got on it was 207(my photo only shows 203, but I checked it about 20 minutes later before unplugging) at the center, the edges were about 100 degrees cooler. It’s a bit concerning. I know most animals will move before any real damage happens, but at that temp, it doesn’t take long.I will have to see how it performs over the next couple weeks.

hasn't failed me yet
I got 8 chicks this March, and since I'm a first-timer, I didn't realize just how quickly they would get so big, and I needed to move them out of their original bin I had them in much sooner than I had planned, with no alternative space I could put them into except their new coop. I was extremely worried about putting them outside because in zone 5 on our mountaintop, it was still dropping below 30 degrees at night well into April. Everything I'd read said they wouldn't be fully feathered and able to go outside in the cold until 6 weeks, but I was going to have to put them outside at 4.5 weeks. So I quickly ordered this heater, due to its great reviews on all the chicken raising sites, and it arrived in just 2 days, surprisingly, considering the pandemic. I was so stressed that I would lose my chicks, so I did bring them in to sleep in their little bin a couple of nights that were expected to reach the mid-teens, but otherwise, I didn't want them to freak out and hurt each other in such a tiny space either. So if it was over 20 degrees, they stayed outside in their coop with this heater. Amazingly, every single one of my chicks made it, and I'm very happy with my purchase!I do NOT recommend trying this out with young chicks in such cold temperatures, because it is such a risk, but this heater really saved the day in my situation!

Thermostat is a must for reptiles and smell is bad
This heater works great in my enclosure (38” x 28” x 18”) but it definitely needs a thermostat. I have the thermostat probe a few inches below the heater set to 92F and it’s able to achieve it with no issues. With the thermostat, the actual heater panel stays at around 140F. This is fine and safe for my reptile but when I tested it without a thermostat the heater easily reached 200+ so be careful. My only complaint is the odor! The manufacturer knows about it and says it’s normal to release fumes, but it lasts days! I’m at about a week in of running it and it still has a residual smell. So definitely let it run for a few days outside of the enclosure before installing.I would recommend this if you need a radiant heat panel for your reptile just use a thermostat and let it run for a few days.

Works great for reptiles as well!
Purchased some PVC enclosures for my Ball Python, and these were the brand of RHP included. Found i could get them on here for cheaper. They provide a consistent heat, on a pulse/proportional thermostat (Herpstat or VE electronics are the brands I like), and I have happy healthy snakes.

Fumes
Be aware that this unit out-gassed significant fumes. The fumes are most notable upon initial start-up/break-in but are detectable even after prolonged run-time. The manufacturer asserts that these acrid fumes are benign but my board-certified avian vet strongly advised that my bird not be exposed to any detectable fumes from polymers or adhesives unless the specific toxicology of those compounds in question has been determined. Anecdotal assertions of harmlessness per the manufacturer are not adequate.I also noted with a non-contact thermometer that the heat does not extend to the edges of the panel but is concentrated toward the center line.In short, though my conversations with the owners have been positive and I think they are good people, I would not recommend this product to the serious avian keeper.
