Otterbox [Defender Series] Samsung Galaxy S5 Case - Retail Packaging Protective Case for Galaxy S5 - Blueprint (Slate Grey/Deep Water)

Love the three-piece Otterbox Defender series! Tough as they come, no loss of touchscreen sensitivity through cover, nice and grippy and very attractive in the blue option I chose for my Galaxy S5.A few gripes that are universal to all Defender covers (I've owned four: Galaxy 3, 4 and now 5)1. Bulky.Not a big issue, but for my needs, it hampers two big uses:A) It's a difficult fit now in the Ram Mount cel phone cradle on my motorcycle, which I attach to many times daily.B) The headphone jack access is restricted enough to prevent credit card sliders to fully seat, requiring cumbersome disassembly to facilitate.2. Difficult DisassemblyAs above, but more. As it is more frequently disassembled, the rubberized outer cover tends to soften up, stretch some and lose the precision fitment the unit is renowned for.If none of these issues apply to you, it's a home run, five-star product you won't regret investing in.For my purposes though, these limitations are significant enough to cause hesitation.Not significant enough to be a dealbreaker though, as this is my fourth Defender purchase. The unrivaled levels of protection outweigh the inconveniences of access and portabiluty I encounter.Pkus, it's a great value now compared to the $50.00 retail you'd pay in a B&M store.

I've had this case for about 7 months now. Within the first couple weeks, the silicon/rubber "bridge" between the home button and the charging port bumped up like it had been stretched (it hadn't been). Other reviewers remark this same issue. Now, it is cracked, and otterbox charges shipping to replace the case (obviously not a single user issue). One of the plastic tabs on the inner case has broken as well.I will say this case has prevented damage the very few times I have dropped my phone.

The OtterBox I received is authentic. I've become hesitant to order mass produced items such as this based on personal experience and reviews concerning authenticity. The particular OtterBox I ordered was sold/shipped by Amazon vs. an individual vendor.Hubby needed a rugged phone case with belt clip for work, which is in tough conditions, inside and out, day and night. Waited nearly a month to see if it held up, and luckily, its still like new.The phone sits snuggly in its case, completely protected, and surprisingly not bulky. The extremely sturdy belt clip grips the phone case, yet comes off with ease when needed. USB port and headphone plug are both readily accessible.Hubby recommends it to anyone who works in the elements - it stays dry and protected, and for those always on the go - the sturdy belt clip means he doesn't have to constantly set his phone down or put it in a pocket, and possibly lose or drop it, which is especially helpful for outside and/or night workers.

OtterBox is usually a solid choice for an outdoor phone case. My old one survived a phone being thrown at a wall (not by me), dropped on concrete multiple times, and more. This one... Seems to be mostly the same. But today my phone fell off a desk while I was under it. It landed on my head, and then fell less than a foot to the floor, face down. Now my phone has a big crack running and splitting across he middle of the screen.Not sure if I should be glad the impact didn't hurt me at all, or upset that my old OtterBox survived a million worse falls than that and this one couldn't protect my phone from a 3 foot fall.I'll add a picture later when I get home from work, the crack is annoying, but nothing that blocks my view of the screen or makes it non-functional.

After almost 2 years, I needed to replace my Otterbox Defender as I broke the clip on the first one (my own fault). I continued to use the case without the clip for a few months, but got sick and tired of not having a belt clip, so I bought another one. I only had a minor issue with the first case as the + volume button on the case wouldn't hit the + volume button on the phone. I've dropped my phone on the concrete enough times to prove to me that this case was an excellent investment to protect my phone. Just recently, I left the phone on the passenger side windshield of my car on top of the windshield wiper and didn't know it as there was a temporary license tag in the windshield. I drove about a half mile before the phone fell off at 45 mph. I didn't realize I had lost my phone until I started looking for it at home. I then realized I must have left it on the car's windshield. I ended up finding my phone in a pile of mud by the side of the road...without a scratch to the phone and only a few minor marks on the Otterbox case. The phone had hit the concrete road a few times based on the scratches before ending up face down in the mud. I hope my new Otterbox Defender case doesn't have to be tested like the first one!

This Otterbox is very sturdy. The blue shade they show on Amazon is true to color. This is the second Otterbox that I have purchased over the past couple weeks, Both were for S5's. The second one seems to fit a bit more snug and seemed like the little snaps on the side did not want to fully engage, but it felt secure. This does have a built in screen protector, It does not adhere to the surface of your phone like other screen protectors but only touches it when you touch it. It seems to work fine, you will probably notice a little difference but not enough to complain about. I already had a screen protector on my phone prior to getting this case. Even with the screen protector on and the Otterbox's screen protector it still works fine, and more protection is good. There was a little discrepancy with shipping. I do not know what caused it, but the case said it was delivered yesterday and to the front desk, as this is a residential home, i have no front desk, but it did arrive in safe condition today and said it was delivered again. Had me worried a little bit. To sum up....Solid case. good color, a bit stiff to get on. Would definitely buy again. Will update if anything changes
