Buy antenna AND F Jack to SMB Plug Adapter
I've installed two of these antennas on our house, and am about to install a third.I've read other reviews on amazon website related to this antenna and will address some of the more frequent comments.1. Buy your own coax(RG6 Quad shield) from a supplier online or in your area. Learn how to use coax tools. I recommend buyingcompression tool and coax stripper sold under the Ideal brand in Home Depot. Also buy a supply of compressioncoax connectors. DO NOT use the old style crimp fittings - too much trouble and not reliable. The prepackagedextensions are WAY too high overpriced. If you tinker with electronic components you will eventually save yourselfbuying premade cables.2. Buy F Jack to SMB Plug Adapter available all over the internet. Make sure you look carefully at an illustrationof exactly what the jack looks like. It's difficult to distinguish the male and female versions because of the smallscale size. You will need one per inbound to XM receiver.3. There are endless comments on the outdoor boot.Note: the boot is designed to be installed prior to terminating thecoax end. Lube the cable with WD40 and slide it on prior to terminating the connection. If you can't do that a glob of silicon will seal the connection as well. For uber purists there is overpriced silicon lubrication for this kind of thing as well. I have had no issues with the boot.4. There is "in the sky" satellite transmission as well as terrestial repeaters that broadcast the XM signal. Determinewhich you are receiving by looking at the receiver display(not all receivers have this feature). This is where it helps to have an XM receiver integrated into a receiver component - mine has a video out that displays channels and which kind of signal is being received. The point is that you might have more antenna placement options than you think. Rural users like me relyon the sky signal.5. I have hooked two receivers to a single antenna but without an XM approved splitter. The receivers have a sensitive antenna check circuit that receives the signal but signals "check antenna" constantly IF both are powered up simultaneously. It is cheaper to put up an additional antenna rather than buy a splitter with XM approved cicuitry. Having looked at someaftermarket satellite splitter kits - not all of them will work and many don't state whether they are for video satellite orSiriusXM reception. At this review the market price is $38 for the Terk XM6.6. Go online and setup an account to manage your account and get rehits on receivers. Remember that it's best to leave theunits on at least 20 continuous minutes per month to keep the receiver unlocked. Ours get daily use.7. The best way to mount this antenna is on a J wall mount. This allows adjustment and groundingthe mount. I had a satellite dish tv antenna change and talked the tech into leaving the old mount.

Great Antenna - Here's Better Information About It
The antenna included with my XM radio got a miserable 0-1 bar where my home office is located. So I bought this and mounted it outside an upstairs window facing southerly. Full signal! Boom! Excellent product; but...The description of this is a little lacking - had to cruise the manufacturer site, which was some help, but not entirely. From the Amazon images for this antenna, it looks like it MIGHT include the RG6 video cable. It doesn't (found that info on the manufacturer's site). So I ended up ordering the AudioVox XM6 Terk Outdoor Antenna, a 50' coil of RG6 cable with standard F Plugs (same as is used for coax video connections) which connects directly to the AudioVox XM6 Terk Antenna, and I also ordered a Sirius-Xm SRSMBF50 XM RF to SMB Adapter - in order to convert the RG6's head end F Plug to the SMB connector that my XM Radio dock uses.So here is the rub. They don't tell you that this antenna package INCLUDES an adapter to convert the standard video F Plug to the SMB connector on the XM Dock - so I now have 2 and only need one. Save the $14.99 for something you need! So: this is a great product, includes pretty much all the hardware needed to mount the antenna, installs easily, works great. Get some RG6 video cable of a length that is appropriate for your installation (up to 100'), and skip ordering the RF-SMB adapter because the package includes one (even though it isn't mentioned in the product description). For longer runs, there is an in-line amplifier available, but I can't vouch for it because I only needed a 50' run and I've got FULL signal without any additional hardware.

Great Product, a couple installation notes...
Hopefully my learning experience will help you avoid the problems I had. Got this antenna to move the Audiovox onyX XM radio from my car into the house. Used the Audiovox universal Xpress home kit and had a few hurdles that you should consider when planning for installation. Firstly, use RG-6 cable, not RG-59 which is used for typical cable TV installations. Next you will most likely require a line amplifier for any runs over 50 feet. I used the Terk XMAMP18 which is spec'd to amplify up to 100 feet of RG-6 Terk XMAMP18 In-Line Amplifier for XM Satellite Radio XM6 Home Antenna . Well, after an hour on the phone with XM support and a call to Audiovox regarding compatibility I was asked to shorten the run to 75 feet (unit would not acquire signal). Worked like a charm. Looking at the XMAMP18 packaging you would be tempted to put the amp at the end of the run, and I suspect that the 100 foot run would work with the amp placed somewhere in the middle. Finally you may want to purchase a RF female to female adapter unless you have the skill set and equipment to create an RG-6 patch cable to go from the amp to the SMB connector supplied with the antenna which plugs into the back of the home adapter. THE GOOD NEWS is that it's a great antenna, I've become an XM junkie and listening to crystal clear non-commercial music as I write this review. Best of luck!

10/10......... but there is no connecting cable!
This replaced our twelve year old outdoor antenna that had given up the ghost after being exposed to the Canadian weather. It works really well, giving a signal strength of ten squares on the receiver. Despite the fact that Amazon states that this antenna comes with 30' of connecting cable, it does not! A separate purchase of RG6 cable is required. We had a cable run of 65', so I inserted an in-line amplifier Audiovox XM XMAMP18 Terk 18dB In-Line Amplifier for XM6 Antenna (Black) and we have a very strong signal.Highly recommended.
