Q: Why is it so expensive? I get that it was discontinued, but that doesn't mean you need to sell it for over $300.

I understand that you feel the price is too expensive. Including Amazon there is in fact a global market for these LEGO sets, and if one seller was to lower the price to $300 his inventory would sell right away, after which the price would again stabilize to what the market would bear. For these discontinued sets, since so few still remain in their sealed boxes, prices have nowhere to go but up.

Q: Is the content unopened and in a sealed box?

If it doesn’t come in a box, good chance it’s a Chinese knockoff.

Q: Can I put the same power functions as the cargo train on this train?

Hi, Yes you can add power functions ( you have to buy them separately) to this train and it even tells you how to do it in the instructions that come with it. : )

Q: Is this a Chinese knock-off? I found a perfect duplicate but not from Lego.

My set is a genuine LEGO set, purchased in the USA.
