If you are going to make a decision because it was made in china you are asking the wrong question. This is an excellent product, well made, strong, thoughtful design and adapts well to any toilet. It is true. It is a free standing. Does not attach to wall. It is secured by pressing screws against the toilet bowl from both left and right side. It is very steady and does not move once secured.
