Purchased these on the recommendation of an accomplished fly tier. They arrived as promised and in great condition. These hackle pliers are very well made, very high quality. They hold onto hackle very well when tying, in fact my only problem has been that I keep breaking off the hackle/wire/peacock because they hold the material so well it's easy to put too much tension on.Here's my only critique of these hackle pliers: they do not hold hooks well at all. The hooks move around and come out very easily. The design is fantastic for tying materials but just not good for hooks. If it weren't for that I would give them 5 stars.Despite that design flaw I would still recommend these.

Ideal for tying soft hackle flies, and any other flies that require hackle. It has extremely good purchase on all types of hackle. I am surprised how much I like this compared to traditional pliers. It has improved my tying abilities. Highly recommend

Easy to take and manage hackles, tinsels, etc., is very comfortable and the tension to haclkles, etc., is easy to control, a good device.

I don't often write reviews. I am not a shill and bought these pliers myself to try a different plier.These are AMAZING! I've tried every kind of pliers out there. I've even modified pliers to have sandpaper grips and nothing holds like these. If you're like me and are tired of hackles slipping out of your pliers, these are your answer.

Very high quality hackle pliers for fly tying,....won't be disappointed, highly recommended.

This really works well for twisting materials and applying to hook. It also works well for handling small hooks, like 20 or 22.I really like it for tying Utah Killer bugs. It holds the yarn really good and allows me to wind it real tightly without slipping!

Works great even on soft hackles. I’ll probably order the smaller size next.
