it is ok
It's a chair. And it works fine. My cats seem to love to scratch the heck out of it though lol

Great for what it is at this price
We got this for our teenage son to use as his gaming/ school desk chair. We also bought it at discount when it was selling for less than $80.00 with free shipping via Prime. At that price point, I think it's a really good deal, but at the current price of 100+, I think we would have spent a few extra bucks and gotten a slightly better-quality chair. The Essentials chair was easy enough to assemble with the tilt mechanism fully assembled, except for the lift strut. Both the seat and back cushions were full assembled and only required attaching them to each other and the arm rests with a few screws. The arm rests while not adjustable, do fold up along the seat back (see pictures).I've seen a lot of reviews that indicate this chair is great for up to and beyond the 250 LB weight limit. That may be true for a few weeks or months, but I don't expect it will last long with that type of usage. My son is about 5'7" and 130 LBS, so this chair is ideal for him and people with similar small sized frames. On the other hand, I'm 6'1" and 275 and while the Essentials chair was comfortable when I sat in it for a few minutes, I could tell the cushions and the frame were not designed to support heavy weights for an extended period.I also see a lot of reviews raving about the high quality of this chair. I think those are a little misguided as well. The Essentials chair is 90% plastic, with even the base plate (see pictures) for the seat bottom and tilt mechanism made from a low- grade 0.125” material (which I expect will fracture rather easily with too much weight or stress). The only components made of metal are the lift strut, the rod for the tilt mechanism, the vertical axles for the casters, and some of the hardware. The material covering the cushions and arm rests is also a lower grade pleather (vinyl?) or cloth that is much thinner than in higher quality chairs. The stitching is also poor in many places (see pictures) and I expect it will be one of the first things to fail.Like I mentioned in the first part of my review, this is a great chair at a price point of 80 dollars or less. But there is a reason that office chairs like Broyhill, LazyBoy, and DxRacer cost 3 or more times the price of the Essentials chair. A higher quality chair has better/thicker cushions & coverings, is constructed mostly of wood, steel, or composite instead of low grade plastic, and will last longer than 6-12 months with regular use.Considering comfort, style, and length of use, there is absolutely no comparison between this Essentials chair and the Broyhill executive office chair that is in my home office. I bought the Broyhill for more than $300.00 in May of 2011. I think the Essentials chair will last 2 or more years for my son, but I also expect it would last less than 12 months if I or someone of similar size were using it regularly. I’d need to by a least 6 - 8 of the Essentials chairs over the same time frame that I’ve had one Broyhill office chair. Again, the Essentials chair is great for what it is at this price (and the reason I gave it 4 stars), but it is by no means on par with or better than most chairs at a higher price point.

Just because I'm a fat bastard doesn't mean this product's quality is worth any less.
I'm a 300lb man, and I usually need bigger, reclining, softer chairs, like those leather recliners, but this holds up pretty okay considering my weight and spinal arthritis. I find myself tossing and turning in it a lot, but I just ordered some extra back and seat padding, as well as a head rest pillow, so maybe it'll improve. I'm also a little too wide to fit between the arms, but the fact they are adjustable is perfect. I'm giving it 5 stars because it is definitely a good product, and just because I'm a fat bastard doesn't mean this product's quality is worth any less. I believe it is advertised for only up to 250lb. I like it though, but man does my fat ass hurt in it. I'll work on making it more comfy for a big guy like me, maybe the pain will stop, but hey, I'm 300lb, but also disabled with severe back issues, and this thing can hold me 14 hours a day. Definitely quality... for now. With me, it's always a matter of "how long will this chair last?" This will break for me eventually, just hope it is not soon! If you're a skinny little terd, then hop on this chair ASAP because it'll do you wonders.--------------------------------------UPDATE ON MY BUTT @ 08/03/2017: I have still managed to keep this chair in one piece. I've also managed to find a great combination of support products for my fat butt and my back to go along with this chair. This thing is fighting to stay alive like a champion. I still toss and turn in it and get a few aches or whatever, but yeah... 300lbs... that just comes with the territory. Anyway, for those obese bastards out there like me who may also be disabled, here is a list of links to my current setup with this chair...https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJ8HYZ4 || Milliard Memory Foam Seat Cushion, Chair Pad, 18 X 16 X 3-Inches Bundle with Removable Cover, for Relief and Comforthttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0VQQ9D || 2 in 1 100% Premium Memory Foam Lumbar Cushion with Neck Pillow-Supportive and Comfortable Seat Back Cushion with Lifetime Warrantyhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H65XHOW || Dualplex Foldable Storage Ottoman Cube 15 X 15", Comfortable Seat – Ideal For Foot Rest, Stool Chair, Small Folding Coffee Table, Decorative Faux Leather Accessory--------------------------------------UPDATE ON MY BUTT @ 03/03/2018: It finally happened, guys. The chair broke. My butt punished it too much. One of the bolts that holds the armrest to the seat snapped in half. To the chair's credit, it lasted longer than almost all chairs I've ever owned in the last 10 years. This chair lasted a full one year. Oddly enough, it broke on the EXACT one year anniversary of owning it. RIP chair... you were a real trooper. We had so many good times together. <3

Well over a year review
I am not a "Gamer" but a computer drafter, so I do sit all day in front of screens. I work a minimum of eight hours a day but realistically sit no less then twelve hours a day five days a week. I did choose this chair mainly for the positive review and I am pretty happy with it. Purchase date 6/19/2020I have had it for one year and five months and it has been a very good chair. Its seat is ok comfortable, but I did purchase an ergo seat cushion after six months if using it. This one:Everlasting Comfort Seat Cushion for Office Chair - Tailbone Cushion - Coccyx Cushion - Sciatica Pillow for Sitting (Navy Blue)It helped out with the seat that was getting worn in a little too much. Also, as of this week (11/8/2021) the gas riser has gone out, so now I am feeling like I am sitting on the floor because it will not go up to its full height like I'm use to. So I will be purchasing a new riser strut soon, very soon. Those being the only issue in that time frame, i think it is doing pretty well and would recommend it to any one needing one.(when i find the strut, and it is working well, i will post and update on it details)
