awesome
Very easy to read. Very accurate tab. The only thing that could make this better is if it can give me a little more guitar skills so that I don't have to try quite so hard to play Opeth! haha

Good
Few problems already stated by other users, but it's a pretty good start for many songs on here. Worth the purchase if you're a big fan.

AMAZING TABLATURE BOOK!
I ordered this book for my husband for Christmas since he was getting a practice guitar. And I was AMAZED by this book! It was a nice book, inexpensive and it arrived a LOT earlier than I expected.

couldve been better
i bought this for a christmas gift for my husband and ive found a few mistakes myself. dont expect these songs to be 100% and i wish it had tabs instead of sheet music. regardless i thnk my husband will love it. on the plus side it did come early and the book was in great condition, no scrathes or damage to the cover or pages.

Not the best
Shortly after I bought this the rear picture was posted for the book. Had I known the track listing for the songs I would not have bought this guitar book. It left out what I felt were a lot of really good Opeth songs; definitely think that they could have dropped some songs and worked on putting in some better ones.

Somethings wrong
I'm not really sure what to think of this tab book yet. Overall its decent but I have found a mistake already. It seems that they have messed up on the tunings on a few songs. Most of the Ghost Reveries album is in a D minor tuning which isn't the case for some of the songs in this book. In the song Ghost of Perdition they have the main guitars being in two different tunings. Which would be fine if Opeth never played this song live but...they do. When the clean section of the song kicks in the guitars are in a different tuning than they were a second ago, if the members could freeze time and change guitars or tune it would be ok otherwise they messed up here. This has sort of damaged the credibility for me so do not believe that these songs are 100 %.After watching an interview with Mikael during his Guitarworld session he even says that they tuned in that (DADFAE) tuning. I thought people producing and tabing out the songs had to contact the musicians to make sure they were correct? Oh well this is what it is.

It's OK
How I tried to find the track listing for this title. (The picture of the rear cover was posted after I bought it.)The track selection could have been better. There are more fun songs to play than these.Gives interesting insight to the at times dense harmonies. The selection is quite diverse: covering all albums with the exception of Orchid. It's always a shame that bass tabs aren't in the same book -- especially so with Opeth.

Great book containing sheet music for a great metal band
Opeth are simply one of the best metal bands in the world, they bring variety into their music which is very different from most of the other metal bands I listen to (not that I don't think the other bands are talented, they're great as well). Opeth brought many influences into their music, particularly progressive rock and folk music as well as incorporating death metal and progressive metal into their music. I've been listening to Opeth quite a lot lately since I bought their albums a few months ago, and I never get tired of listening to them because of the variety in their music. This book contains 12 of their songs ranging from their second album Morningrise up to and including the quintessentially brilliant Ghost Reveries, which was their latest album at the time of printing of this book (they had done a couple albums since this book was published). The 12 songs featured in the book are as follows:1. Bleak (from their 2001 album Blackwater Park);2. Closure (from their 2003 album Damnation);3. Deliverance (the title track from their 2002 album Deliverance);4. Demon of the Fall (from their 1997 album My Arms, Your Hearse);5. The Drapery Falls (from Blackwater Park);6. Ghost of Perdition (from their 2005 album Ghost Reveries);7. Godhead's Lament (from their 1999 album Still Life);8. The Grand Conjuration (from Ghost Reveries);9. Master's Apprentices (from Deliverance);10. Moonlapse Vertigo (from Still Life);11. To Bid You Farewell (from their 1996 album Morningrise);12. Windowpane (from Damnation). It's a shame that none of the songs from their 1995 debut album Orchid were featured in this book, maybe there are rights issues to the publishing of sheet music for that album and the other songs from their other albums, who knows, but at least this book is better than nothing at all. I've even tried to play parts of some of the songs featured in this book on my electric and acoustic guitars but I can't do it expertly yet I'm afraid (I would love to though). Listening to Opeth has also encouraged me to broaden my horizons a little bit, for example I recently started listening to rock bands Rainbow and Dio again, and because of Opeth's progressive rock influences in their music, I may consider listening to bands such as Emerson Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Yes and Pink Floyd again.Overall, I believe this book would be ideal for anyone wanting to practice such great music from such a great band as Opeth, and this has to a degree made me consider making my own music using music-making software (not that I have anything like that yet but I would consider doing so in the near future) as I've been having guitar lessons since 2005. Very highly recommended indeed.

Opeth

A must-have for modern prog-metallers
If you're:A big Opeth fan who plays guitarA fan of modern prog-metalA guitarist trying to understand how music theory applies to YOUR styleThen you need this book.Without doubt it is one of THE most accurate transcriptions of a metal band's output I've ever owned.Ever found that some transcribers seem to stick in un-necessary but slavishly pedantic notes that you wouldn't actually play to make the song sound right? None of that guff here! It's some of the best music around written as it's played; no accidentally struck notes, no pointless performance guidelines, and no huge gaps in the songs either. In fact, NO GAPS AT ALL!!If you've ever purchased French tab books, you'll know why that gets me so excited. So in short, buy it.Just buy the book.It will make you a better guitarist and irresistible to the ladies (individual results may differ from person to person. I accept no liabilty for you not becoming a better guitarist, a super stud, or both).
