Best Choice for Duramax water pump
Mine was dripping out the weep hole and down the driver's side front of the engine. I decided to attack this during the same weekend I did the CP3 pump so that way I was only aggravated on one occasion instead of two lol. You WILL 100% need the crankshaft socket and flywheel holder tool from Lisle tools to do this job as well as a way to remove the fan clutch. I rented the fan clutch tool from AutoZone but it didn't work for me. I ended up using a long pry bar to hit the fan clutch nut and it broke free and spun off by hand easily. The socket in the kit I mentioned is 3/4" drive so you'll need a breaker bar for that, and if it's not at least 3ft long or so you'll need a pipe to give you leverage. The crank bolt is so tight it was hit with Thors hammer or something when it was installed. I'm 5-10 200lbs and I was beside the fender pulling on the pipe almost picking myself off the ground. Same to tighten, so just plan accordingly for some help maybe if you're lighter than I am.Don't cheap out on the water pump buying some Temu crap or eBay specials. But the AC Delco. It's buy once-cry once. The job takes about an hour and a half if you have your tools already ready to go and a good plan of attack. Plenty of help videos on YouTube. The two 10mm nuts(or studs, can't remember) on the back of the pump that links it to the coolant tube on the driver side of the engine block are kind of cumbersome to get to but you can do it with extensions and universals.

Be careful large O rings not same size and no instructions on where they go. I put orange to engine side and it worked great. Otherwise I would have gave it 5 stars. Bypass tube top O ring to thick won’t go into place even with grease.I went on line to check and others reported the same problem so I looked for a better fitting one in my O ring kit and found it.see pic to see the difference between the two O rings. The groove for O ring is wide so I put on 2 rings to help hold into place and everything then went in perfectly with a little grease.
