Thought Provoking
It is over forty-five years since I first read this novel and its sentiment still rings true today. Bearing in mind this book was first published in 1931 it is no wonder that some of the "predictions" appear quaint, or sometimes outlandish. This is not a science-fiction story it is about how, in a future world, the State controls its citizens. The "predictions" are secondary to the plot. The story is set in the twenty-sixth century in a world free from War, Famine, Disease, Poverty and everybody has a job, but this comes at a price. The State controls your every move from even before you are born! It pre-determines your status and then after birth conditions each citizen to faithfully execute their designated job. In this society everybody is happy not least because the State provides all with drugs to ameliorate loneliness and unhappiness. There is no unrest unless the state sponsored drug supply is interrupted. In other words carefree happiness is guaranteed if you do as you are told.Transplanted into this Brave New World is a man born outside this idyll. This man is unfettered by conditioning, or technology, and is known as "The Savage". His raw human emotions are unable to comprehend the modern morality. The thrust of the novel is about how he tries to reconcile these differences.Although well written this story is not all easy reading. It breaks down taboos , such as sex and death, and turns the standards of the nineteenth century on its head. However, it is thought provoking. I don't think the author fully answers all the questions he raises, but leaves it up to the reader. Is that not the sign of a good read?

Amazing Book
Everyone should read it, it’s reminding me of agenda 2050. One of those books that you wish to read again some time. Publisher did a great job, regarding quality of a book, font and annotations. Thank You!

A book that will resonate with the world we live in today.....unfortunately
This was my first read of Brave New World. I prefer to skip the Intro by John Sutherland as this can bias the opinion of the reader. I prefer to refer to the Intro once I have read the book first. Firstly, I should say that this particular edition is very well finished. The binding, quality of paper and printing is the best I have seen in a classic. I wish Penguin would take notes here. The story itself is dystopian but I found it to be very relevant today's works. A society that is preoccupied with pleasure at the cost of beauty, culture etc.Through reading, you can tell how many other movies and books have been influenced by this work. This is a classic and it will take pride of place on my bookshelf. The Shakespeare references are also highly pointed to this terrible future that forms Huxley's book.

Really good looking book for a great story
Huxley didn't give us a positive view of the future, but the dystopian predictions he gave are interesting enough as they're as someone in the 30's would see 100 years in the future, so that in itself is interesting enough. No spoilers but the ending is worth waiting for and it's a book that has been with me throughout my life. So I bought it for my father, and he's reading it incessantly, and the book itself looks really posh. Worth it just for the presentation even if not for the story!

A great book exquisitely presented.
This classic doesn't require an opinion. However, the physical book is a pleasure to hold and read. A great product.

Perfect
Delivery planned between the 20th and the 24th: it was in my letter box on the 16th. Perfect. The cover is not the same as the one showed on internet but it does not matter, the text stays the same.
