how long are the cables?

I would say that 11 1/2 to 12 inches would be correct. I haven't measured the cables on my feeder, but am judging the length from looking out of my window.

is it hard to assemble?

It came assembled; however the hanging cords are not fastened on very well. They kept coming off on one side so I had to do some work there.

Is there any way to get replacement mesh trays for these? I've purchased six of these trays and one of the mesh trash broke all too pieces.

My husband has replaced the screen on his own.
