One of the best movies ever
Alan Ladd and Sophia Loren are a dynamic duo in this tale of a Treasure Hunt filmed in the Islands of Greece make it a terrific movie. The photography in the Greek Islands is breathtaking. The ending is very satisfying. . A low grade love affair is very good too.

Survives the test of time
I loved this movie in the 50’s and was thrilled to revisit it 65 years later, as if for the first time.I have always loved Sophia Loren and recommend her latest movie “The Life Ahead,” lovingly directed by her son Carlo Ponti. The boy on the dolphin does have some plot & mystery to it, but the movie is totally about watching this magnificent woman walk, talk and simply exist!I look forward to watching it (HER) again - before another 65 years pass.

Impecable
I had seen this movie on cable and when I found out that there was a said to be pretty good reissue on BD I just went for it - IT IS EXCEPTIONAL - never ever thought I would see it this way - any erratic shifts in quality I assume are faithful to the original negatives - JUST KEPT ME WITH AWE AND A SMILE FROM BEGINNING TO END - sound pretty good as well - recommended

Great movie, good blu ray version
it wasn't quite as clear and sharp as I had hoped, but hey it's from 1957. mostly though it looked great. I had seen the movie many times but realized I had never seen it in it's true wide screen glory so I had to have this blu ray. I think they did an excellent job, as good of a job as they possibly could do on this. a few scenes here or there don't look too perfect but who cares. yes alan lad is a bit wooden but we aren't looking at alan lad are we? we are looking at the beautiful scenery of the greek islands and oh yah, sophia the Italian goddess that once roamed the screens in the 1950's, 60's and 70's. I had to re watch grumpy old men 2 again just to see her in her last movie where she still at age like 62 ,still was stunning. she has such an elegance to her. the movie kind of stunk except for a few scenes. (Burgess meridith and his horny old man schtick really was so bad)boy on a dolphin is not the best movie overall, but if you like history, the greek islands, a little adventure I would watch it just for that, but then to add sophia to the mix. I'm sold.

The beautiful Earth Mother - Sophia Loren in Blu Ray!
This mini-review is for the Kino Lorber Blu Ray released in Oct. 2016. As always, it's unfortunate that Amazon doesn't create separate entries for significantly different movie releases - I guess that they never will. It makes a lot of the reviews misleading or useless but you can still wade through all of the recent reviews and see which ones are for Blu Ray.Especially given what has been previously out on DVD for this film, this Kino Lorber release is amazing, visually. I am 64 and remember this film well from when I was a kid. It's not very good is it? But, Sophia Loren, with minimal makeup and dressed in simple and lovely long dresses and then of course, with the famous wet clothing scenes, is absolutely beautiful. Well worth the price!

Marvelous entertainment
I view and enjoyed this move at a drive-in movie. During a recent walk down memory lane, in my mind, I thought I’d risk seeing if I could purchase a dvd of this. And Amazon came through for me. Give it go you’ll enjoy this trip down memory lane.

"Film noir meets Busty mammal"
Two stars from Forties film noir: Alan Ladd ("Blue Dahlia" 1946) and Clifton Webb ("Laura" 1944) are in 1957 Greece to locate a gold art icon statue of a boy riding a dolphin, which sank into waters outside a Greek island. This is Sophia (38-23-36) Loren's first American film portraying a Greek scuba diver who locates the underwater statue. She later won the Academy Award for "Two Women" (1961). This is American post-World War II cinematic triumphalism. Big boobs AND brains--way to go Sophia !!!!!!!!!!

visually beautiful film shot on location in Greece in the 1950s.
Blu Ray from KIno Lorber Studio, it is for region A locked, USA region so if you are in the UK you will need a multi region Blu Ray player, Im here in the UK and I have a Blu Ray player that has a multi region hack, I wanted this KIno Lorber edition as I had read that it is the best possible quality of the movie and I have other titles from this studio and they are always top notch. This is Sophia Loren's first English language film, it is from 1957, and is filmed entirely on location in Greece with some studio interiors. The cinemascope photography is fantastic with lush colours and pin sharp images, it is a fascinating look at 1950s Greece, and a romantic story about hidden treasure, I remember seeing it s a child more than 40 years ago and I always remembered it so it was good to catch up with it again , It is a lovely movie and a visual treat ..simply beautiful to look at and the blu ray makes it look like it was shot yesterday, highly recommended.

Search for lost treasure!
5 stars for the terrific views of the Greek Islands and Sophia Loren. This was Loren's first American movie, it is reported that she was a bit taller than Alan Ladd and he did some scenes using a footstool. Ladd plays a former American Soldier who thwarted Clifton Webb who attempted to steal archaeologic treasures. Loren is a sponge fisher who accidentally spots a sunken Greek ship with a cargo of a golden boy on a dolphin. She schemes with her boyfriend and Webb to hoodwink Greek authorities and steal the golden boy on Webb's boat. There are several scenes where she dances in a Greek style and does a credible job doing it. This film has not been available for a long time in a dvd format and I welcomed the chance to purchase it. Julie London sings the title song. Very entertaining.
