Great dowel jig kit, well thought out and easy to use. However, If you're going to be doing fine woodwork, do yourself a favor and buy a quality set of brad point drill bits. The ones supplied with the kit are OK, but not great, and tend to wobble while getting started (even shown in their own video), making for a rather loose dowel fit . Also, I recommend that you double up on bits and collars. It's tedious to adjust the hole depth when doing repetitive joints. Easier to just swap out the bits. Bottom line, though... great value, and a great introduction to using dowels for joinery.

Putting two or more pieces of wood together is never easy. Getting them to align almost impossible. But with this tool, I can align my pieces, place and glue the dowels, and the end result is great! Very easy to use

As a beginner woodworker, Milescrafts doweling jig kit has been great. I was struggling with screwing boards together and sealing the holes. It didn't look great and was a pain on wide or thin boards. This jig easily and quickly aligns dowel holes for a perfect fit that looks great.My one complaint is that the case isn't designed to store the drill bits with the depth stops attached.Otherwise, my personal lesson learned was setting my board orientation correctly when drilling holes. Since the jig doesn't require precise hole placement, it's easy to have the wrong board faces match up to the drilled holes.Well worth the money!

The different bushing sizes give you flexibility for different projects, and the included drill bits, depth stops, and glue are a nice bonus. Perfect for DIYers or anyone looking to make strong, clean joints without fancy tools. Highly recommend!

I will suggest… 1) watch a YouTube video before using. It will help. 2) Drill the holes almost 1/8” deeper then half the length of your dowel. So if the dowel is 1-1/2” long you should drill the hole almost 7/8” deep. (Glue takes up more space than you think); after drilling the holes get something like a thin bamboo skewer (marked with the depth of the hole you require) and CHECK TO BE SURE the holes you drilled are deep enough before assembly. Before checking said hole depth, tap the wood upside down on a surface to be sure the sawdust is out of the hole. 3) after you bang in the dowel, make sure you have the appropriate length sticking out by checking it against that skewer or a tape measure ) or whatever you marked, see step #2. 4) use either a rubber mallet or a soft piece of wood (pine) to bang together the parts. Have a wet rag handy to wipe away the excess glue that squirts out between the boards. A couple of my holes were not drilled straight so be very cognizant of how you hold the tool and how you drill.

The kit comes with easy to follow instructions and truly provides virtually everything you might need to make several dowel joints. Just add a drill and clamps and you're all set. The distance fence is not particularly heavy duty, but it functions just fine and is certainly adequate for most jobs. I have only rudimentary carpentry skills and was able to quickly edge join a couple of excess hickory boards to make a decorative shelf. Total time involved, including reading instructions was about 30 minutes from start to clamping. The centering function is simple and accurate, the depth collars fit and work well enough and the final result looks professionally done. Great value and function for the home handyperson!

While this is a great tool for lining up dowels, and in my case lining up the pins for a new leaf for a table I'm refinishing, the provided drill bits leave much to be desired. The leaves are mahogany and I had to push very hard to drill the holes. Finally I used one of my own drill bits and it cut the mahogany like butter. I reached out to the company and got no response.
