Teach your Kids to Cast!
Great for practicing in the house! Bought several of these for nieces and nephews under 10. But fun for all:) Great for getting the rhythm and fun to put out a target to practice accuracy.Take your kids!!

An everywhere casting companion
Delivered in perfect condition and the box not damaged nor tampered with, intact. Beautiful little casting tool. I was immediately impressed with the genuine cork handle just like a rod that I would fish with. At first I thought that the practice fly line was not included. It was hidden at the other end of the little rod tube tightly packed, hidden by the label. So be sure to open both ends! Quite a nice little tool to learn with! I bought these for a Resiliency Fly Fishing Group that I created with American Red Cross, and it’s been quite useful helping new casters to learn. I’ll be buying more of them!

Good tool to groove the feel
I am just getting into fly fishing. So I have limited knowledge about what great technique for casting looks like, but did know I wanted to have something I could use in the house while it is too cold outside to practice. This fits the bill at a much cheaper price than the one at the fly shop where I was looking at fly rods. What you get is essentially a two piece budget fly rod with some string and yarn on it to mimic your line. It comes in a handy plastic tube to store the rod in if you aren’t using it (you have to break the rod down), and piece of paper that outlines how to use the rod to groove the cast.I have used the rod for two 15 minute indoor sessions and have already started to gain the feel for how to control the line and be able to whip the length of the line out accurately. I’m sure the feel leaves something to be desired relative to a real rod, but I’m cool with that. The important thing to me is to learn the feel of the line that SHOULD translate over to practice with my new rod set up.Do note, the rod is about four feet long and there is about 15 feet of line. Whipping this around indoors requires a good chunk of open space and high ceilings. My ceilings are 10 feet and I have an open concept dining room kitchen and living room, so this works well for me. An 8 ft ceiling may not be high enough unless you make modifications to your motion (don’t) or cast from your knees (maybe?).

Improving fly casting
I have been using this daily and as I enter the off season of fly fishing, it is keeping my casting rhythm intact.

Fun little toy
Not sure if this is making me better at casting but it’s fun to play with while on the couch and makes a great cat toy.

You better have a lot of open space
You need a huge room with high ceilings to use this inside. I have a very large room, and 13’ ceilings. But, unless I take my light fixtures down, this is useless in the house.
