Yup, that's motor oil.
Hard to say whether or not this is a good product until maybe a couple hundred thousand miles from now, when tearing down and rebuilding the engine (should that ever happen); but it's the oil Volkswagen recommended, and it's the oil that showed up in the box from Amazon, so... five stars?
