Is the teapot functional? Like can I put water in it and pour it out the spout?

The teapot is not functional. It is painted wood and there is not a hole for pouring out the spout. Our granddaughter of two and my grandson of 8 both enjoy this tea set. It is totally perfect for their imaginations.
