Belts break or wear out immediately. I've had it only 100 days and I'm on my 3rd belt. First one snapped because it was old (?!) so apparently this vacuum is in extended inventory. Oreck doesn't sell it themselves anymore. Really disappointed in Oreck, Amazon, and Galaxy Vacuum for not being forthcoming on a discontinued product and one that appears defective, and for denying return claims based on time limits when the defect is a time-based failure.

This vacuum is awful! And Galaxy Vacuum is not a reputable dealer. I have had the vacuum less than 90 days and it is spitting dirt across the floor rather than picking it up. It does not push on a plush carpet and takes off uncontrollably on a flat rug. Have attempted to return but have been accused of not knowing how to maintain the vacuum. I had previously owned an Oreck for 12 years and was completely satisfied. This vacuum is a total waste of money and Galaxy Vacuum does not stand by their products.

Updating 7 weeks after purchase - Took it the ORECK replacement center, owned by ORECK, turns out, this model has not only been discontinued, it was pulled from inventory over 2 years. ago. The guy actually said, Amazon must of had it sitting in the warehouse for over 2 years, there's just no other way to purchase this vacuum. He also said, it's basically a piece of crap, the belt will continue to constantly break at no fault of your own. Yay! Best 200 bucks I've ever thrown out the window.Updating 5 weeks after purchase....beater bar stopped working. Basically, after using it twice a week on hard work and thin area rugs, the beater bar doesn't work. Oreck wants me to drive 45 minutes to a repair center as this is "not normal". At this point, I would spend your money on something else.What I love....It's light. It weighs nothing. It works great on our thin area rugs and our hard floor surfaces.What makes it not so great.The roller doesn't move over our thick carpet. If you have have ultra this plush carpet, this will not work for you.

I should have returned it the minute it stoped working , I had the older model and it was way better then this one) ,so I bought and received it opened it looked ok it is heavier then older model , I tried it and it was ok ,and in couple days I traveled for 2 months , when I got back started using it and hell of a mashine two times I already changed the roller cause it’s stop turning couple time changed the belt ... this mashine is awful I so regret buying it nothing is true of all the waw description , and would love my money back and I’ll send it back to them or if I can exchange it and too bad no one answering me

Have used Oreck vacs for about 15+ years.Sadly this one worked for such a short time.I think the vacuums aren't nearly as durable or quality as they used to be.

Bought this machine on line and received it on November 26, 2018. The belt to the beater bar has already broken. I was using this machine to do touch ups between vacuuming with my Rainbow vacuum. I had only used it a few times. My options were to use one of my free tune ups which would replace the belt and clean and grease all the parts leaving it in the shop for two or three weeks. Second option was to buy replacement belts for about $10 and pay $10 or so to replace the belt. A new machine should get this free. The dealer told me when you buy on line sometimes the machines have been sitting in a warehouse for a while and the belts dry rot. Not quality machine.

My 83 year old mother can use this without any trouble. It really has suction, it leaves the carpets feeling very fluffed and brighter afterwards. We have a big dog who sheds and a man who tracks in dirt (we live in AZ where dirt is everywhere). We had an older Oreck that has been discontinued and this is a perfect replacement.

Last weekend smoke started to come out from somewhere in the motor. Previous to this Oreck vacuum cleaner I had a Eureka upright vacuum cleaner which lasted >9 years. I decided to go with the Oreck brand even thought they were a lot more expensive than other brands out there, but I didn't think it would break down within 7 months of being purchased. I am very disappointed with this brand.
