Can it be used with dimmable bulbs?

I purchased this and didn’t have it wired. I simply mounted it to my wall and use battery operated bulbs, so yes, I would assume any standard lightbulb size works.

Assume that these lamps need a old work round electrical box for mounting, correct?

The diameter of the mount plate is 4.7 inch, please ensure your electrical box is lower than such size that could be covered by the round plate.
