HENCKELS Statement Razor-Sharp 5-inch Compact Chef Knife, German Engineered Informed by 100+ Years of Mastery, Black/Stainless Steel

We bought this for a 10 year old learning to cook. It is not as good as our best Wusthof and Henckles but very good for the price, super sharp and good balance for me and the 10 yr old. The only slight flaw is that because it is stamped not forged , where the handle and the heel of the blade meet there is no real bolster like there is on a forged knife and that leaves a very sharp corner that is not normally sharp. I just smoothed the corner with a diamond stone

This is an excellent knife. The feel in your hand is one of being in control of the blade. Very sharp and looks like it will be easy to sharpen. I loved this knife so much that I ordered another one after using this one just once.

Great knife that so far has held it's edge. Sharpened it once with an Accurate Sharp sharpener with excellent results and little effort. Like the knife so far.

This knife would have gotten 5 stars, but the top of the handle is flat and the weight/balance of the knife sometimes makes it roll upside down . -So it sits there poised to cut your hand if you’re not paying very careful attention. I was cutting mangoes and set the knife down to scoop the mango pieces into the bowl. My knuckles hit the knife as it was on its back. I was curious and checked all my other knives and the surface of tops of the handles are all rounded so this won’t happen.

good knife...I'll use it every day as soon as I repair the sharp spur that's on the handle near the mounting studs. Just shoddy workmanship that made it thru quality control.not worth the effort to return etc...I'll continue to buy their knives. Mostly for the quality/cost....not the first one of their knives I've had problems with the handle....they should have someone look into their handle attachment process...

Very sharp and good balance in your hand. Good for those kitchen tasks which are more detail oriented than you would need a larger chef knife for.. i.e. tomatoes, fruits, and veggies of tomato size or smaller.

Great little knife when cooking for two. Wish the steel was a little better but it sharpens easy and will go to a very sharp edge. For you old guys a Sunbeam Tiger compared to a Camero or nowdays a WRT to aVette. Apparently they are closing them out. The very reasonable price is great value.

Simply said... I put my knives in the dishwasher. I sharpen them before using with a steel that came with a knife block I bought a while ago and it's as sharp as I need it to be. I mainly use this knife for prep work (slicing, dicing, chopping). If you need a worry free knife that is still very sharp, here it is. I wish the handle was more rounded but I'm okay with it.
