Amazing brewer!
Before I begin my review, I think it's important to point out that the few negative reviews currently on Amazon detailing some niggles, are not for the product that is available via Amazon. These reviews are from people who received the first version of The Oomph from crowd funding, and the version which is now selling on Amazon is a later model in which modifications have been made to rectify reported issues.I also purchased via the kickstarter campaign, so I realise what points these reviewers are referencing, but mountains are being made out of molehills in my opinion. I still use mine now every day, the only reason I bought the new one is so I can have one at home and one in the office in case I leave home in a rush.Yes, with the first release you had to carefully screw on the lid making sure you didn't cross thread it so it didn't leak, and you needed to properly tighten it, fair enough. You also had to screw the inner chamber in tight, and the catch on the side was stiff at first. If anyone spoke to the company about this or read the info on the kickstarter website, the instructions were very clear and explained how to ensure that the device doesn't leak, and how to make the catch looser. I just got used to it, and I didn't see it as a big deal. But this is all irrelevant as this isn't the version that is available on Amazon, it's a newer modified model. With that said - my review:I am a speciality coffee enthusiast, I use various different brewing processes at home including espresso, pourover filter, cafetiere and Aeropress. I was intrigued by the idea of the Oomph based on it being a coffee maker and travel mug in one, but what I've been even more impressed about than anything, is the taste!I find the taste of coffee brewed with the oomph is fuller, more defined flavour and has a bigger mouthfeel than other brew methods, to me it's closer to cafetiere / french press than any other process, but much faster & without the bits. The fact that you can re-brew with the Oomph is also a brilliant thing, and something that I don't think is possible with any other brewer. This means that if you're not happy with the coffee, if it's not strong enough, you can give it another brew - deciding on how far to pull the plunger out and re-plunge depending on how far off perfect you think it is.The fact that it holds such a big cup of coffee is a big plus in my opinion too, you can brew a smaller cup if you wish - but you can brew a really big cup and take it on the go with you, 13 oz - not far off 400ml, that's a decent sized cup!I like how long it keeps my coffee hot for too, I still find its at a drinkable temperature around an hour later! I used to use a travel mug at my desk to keep my coffee warm for longer, but the oomph keeps it hot for far longer. But the main thing for me is the taste, it brews a very full flavoured coffee. Just now prior to writing this review I've brewed an Ethiopian coffee with the oomph, and I know the characteristic taste of this coffee. Via the oomph these flavours are amplified, it's as if the oomph just extracts more of the lovely flavours than other manual brewing methods. And finally just to answer the person who has launched every potential negative comment imaginable at the Oomph and has then recommended Aeropress instead.Firstly - I love Aeropress, its one of my favourite brewers, but the Oomph isn't a version of Aeropress, it's a completely different brewer, in addition to the fact that of course the oomph is a travel mug and brewer in one. It brews a different tasting coffee, with a fuller taste and a bigger mouthfeel - the shape of the bottom of the inner chamber of oomph creates a turbine effect, increases the pressure & has an impact on extraction. You can re-brew if you're not happy with the taste, which is something you can't do with Aeropress or any other method as far as I'm aware. It works with a wider range of grind sizes too, which means you can get better results with pre-ground coffee, and there is less faffing about to dial in the bean if you're grinding your own.Personally I think that anyone who's really into coffee should have as many different brewing processes at their disposal as possible. Sometimes I crave the refreshing taste that you can get from pourover, sometimes nothing but espresso will hit the spot, or cafetiere, but the great thing is that most of these brewers (with the exception of espresso machines) are fairly inexpensive, so it doesn't require a mortgage to have range of different brewers to suit your mood. The oomph though, produces amazing tasting coffee, and has so much going for it in addition to the taste, that in my opinion its a must have coffee brewer for speciality coffee drinkers.

A coffee maker with Oomph
Received this coffee maker in a well presented package. It consists of several parts but is very easy to use and makes a lovely cup of coffee straight from the start. The way it works is very similar to another well-known coffee maker that I use and I’m glad to say this is on par. It’s a basic pump brew method where the coffee grounds are placed in the base, there are lines to indicate the max coffee required and all you then do is add hot water and once again there are two lines to show the amount of water needed. You simply let the coffee brew for around two minutes then with the plunger top you lightly press down and there is a locking section keep the two parts together. It’s worth noting the locking section is a bit tight from new and I’ve read that it will loosen as time goes on and it’s also worth noting that the top cap will leak if this container falls on its side. Cleaning is very easy all you have to do is fill it with water and pump for about 10 to 20 seconds and it’s pretty clean but you can strip down the sections and give it a thorough clean if you wish. I’ll also echo what another reviewer stated and that is the coffee tends to be weaker than I’m used to but you do have the ability if you wish to pump the coffee again using the plunger style system. Very simple way to make you coffee that works well.Edit, wanted to add to my review after having spent a few weeks with the Oomph.I’m finding the simple plunge clean up after use is not fully cleaning the filter and coffee collects at the side of the round filter so it pays to strip down and give it a good wash. When pouring it’s not the best and dribbles due to the angle on the outlet. Not terrible but worth a mention.Apart from the 2 points above which are not deal breaker by any standard I’ve found this Oomph makes good and consistent coffee.
