Will they all go on a lanyard and have firm clips at the back?

Yes they will go on a lanyard. We bought for a Christmas present a couple of years ago so can't remember how secure they were but I think they're white safe.

What size is the box it comes in please?

It's approximately 5-6 inches long and 3-4 inches wide. It's sealed in a shipping box so I can't get it out to measure exactly.

what material are they made out of?

I honestly dont know but it feels like some kind of metal. They are good and solid. I was VERY pleased with the quality. I wear the Hogwarts crest every day on my wintercoat (Been doing so for a few years now) and it’s still as good as new :) I do use a different lock (one with a screw I bought at disneyland so it doesnt fall off, winter coat is pretty thick)
