Write speed may drops off under sustained load.
I was very hopeful about this external ssd enclosure. I think if one is only transferring large files occasionally then this will be fine. The fan can also be quite annoying and if you have wireless devices nearby (ie 2.4ghz keyboard), the connection may be affected. I don't know if the provided cable is causing it or the device itself, but for now I'll conduct more testing.EDIT: The drop off could be the SSD that I'm using. I'll conduct further testing with a different SSD when I get a chance.EDIT 2: It was the SSD I'm using. Write speeds are now decent. That said, I thought the fan wasn't going to bother me but yeah, it is that loud. It is quite annoying actually. I wish there's an option to turn this off or at least able to remove the fan housing altogether for clean-up purposes. Dust will eventually build up. While it works, I will probably return this because that fan is really bothering me now.

Just Buy This
This works great! I have used it to clone two SSD drives, including my boot drive. I have an extra SATA drive plugged into it most of the time and use it as off-line back-up of my important files. Product is small and stays cool and quiet. The cloning processes can be a little tricky but once I figured out that after holding the button down until the blue light comes on, I had to let it go then press it again to start—all was good! I later found the directions in the bottom of the box, so my bad for not finding/reading them first. Oh, and the USB 3.0 connection is much faster than I expected after reading other reviews. I backed up 4 TB of data in about 4 hours.

Works exactly as claimed
It does exactly what it claims. I recovered all my pics and files off a half dozen old hard drives.

Nice for 2 SSD drives.
I bought a 4 drive device from a different source that overwhelmed my working space with fan noise. This 2 drive unit is quiet enough that you forget it’s there. So… I bought two of these units and have them side by side. The fan noise is almost nonexistent even with 2 units running. They work great. They are small enough you could stick both of them into a McDonald’s bag (not much taller than two Big Mac’s). Is there a drawback? Only the fact that each one takes up a USBc slot in your hub.

Worked great
Very simple to use. My WD external hard drive stopped being recognized on my computer. Watched some YouTube videos…. Disassembled it to isolate the hard drive from its casing and stuck it in the new Sata drive and was able to access all my data! Yay!

great for using those extra sata drives
If you have a couple of computers, odds are good you have a couple of sata drives laying around. I wanted to use them but didn't want a bunch of enclosures cluttering up my desk. This thing works great, popped 2 drives in it and plugged it in. The power input is not necessary with SSDs it can power itself over usb c

Do NOT buty this for CLONING!!!!!
I never write reviews. But this docking station is worthless for cloning hard-drives. I am a 25 year computer expert. I have more than twenty years in simulation technologies and can build some of the best and fastest computers from scratch. My experience goes back almost every generation of PCs back to the DOS era. In addition, I'm a full-stack coder. I am sought after for advice by many folks about computers, software and coding. Now that I have all the bragging and credentials out of the way so that folks will listen to my review; I can sum this device up in three words:It's a BRICK!Two more words:STAY AWAY!It can be used as a glorified, powered USB3 drive holder for copying your computer files manually. That's about all it is good for. Otherwise, as a cloning device, it's a brick or a paper weight. The photos you see are taken almost six hours into the process of cloning a 120gb hard-drive to a 500gb hard-drive. Both are SSDs. There is only about 25-30gb of data on the source 120gb drive in slot A of the docking station! On top of that, the source drive is a virgin new build with none of my data other than an operating system and various programs that I installed in a fresh Windows installation. I used this new drive for about two weeks to see if there was going to be any errors with my OS install and programs. It ran smooth as silk.So my plan was to use this 120gb as a source disk for any future computer failures tucked away in the drawer after I cloned it to a larger 500gb Crucial Hard Drive. Nada. Nope. Not happening. To put salt in the wound, tonight is my second attempt to clone this thing. It is stuck on 25% just like some of the other reviewers wrote. I started at 8pm in the hotel lobby. It is now 2:01am as I type this sentence. The light hasn't budged an inch from 25% since 8pm.Last night was the same results. But, I only spent 3 hours last night and it was still stuck at 25%.On top of that, if you stop the process like I did last night, the hard-drive will not be recognized at all by Windows. So you can't Format the drive you're trying to copy to the easy way in Windows to start again because it doesn't recognize it as a hard-drive at all. The Bios sees it, but not Windows. So, how do you remedy that? The old fashion way. You need to have a Windows repair disk, bootable Windows Flash drive or repair media with Windows, or some other way to format the drive from a command prompt using "diskpart". Otherwise your destination drive is also a brick unless you know how to do this. Most people are scared to tackle this with at a command prompt, but it is not too difficult. In fact, it is the best way to actually wipe and remove the original corrupt, unusable data that was written by this docking stations firmware or programs written on the chips. This entire process, along with wiping and partitioning the destination 500gb drive again will take you another hour if you know how to do it. Add more time if you don't. For me: 1/2 hour to physically partition it. And another hour finding your Windows media, looking up the old commands, removing and reinstalling hard drives in your computer, etc.... I removed my good drive just to be safe because Windows and the Bios remembers when a drive fails to boot and sometimes it is easy to get mixed up when you have a good drive and unreadable drive inside a computer as you step through the wipe and partition process at a command line and rebooting the computer. To sum this up, It would have been much faster for me to use Powershell or some other "old school" copy commands to recursively copy this amount of data through an old school USB1 port!!!Stay away from this device and model if you are going to clone a drive.Hopefully this write-up will save many folks some grief.
