Is it frameless —so that it could take on an oblong shape to fit in a very narrow tub?

So sorry! The bottom of the tub is a non bending circle. The 6 plastic legs that you insert are needed to fully support the weight of the water that will fill the tub. It doesn't give way to any bending without causing some kind of damage to the tub.

yes, I lean back in my tub. The weight of the water keeps the tub upright very well.;; and the ribs are strong that hold the top in place.
