This jacket is a tank!
This jacket is great! I really wanted to give it 5 stars but the neck opening is huge, there is a shock cord adjustment but the jacket is pretty stiff being new so I’m hoping after some time that will alleviate my concern of wet weather running straight down my back.. I’ve had it for a few weeks and just completed the sm500 with it. We didn’t hit any rain on the road so I can’t yet speak to that but the venting was fantastic. I will wear this as a 4 season jacket even though it will be very hot in the summer. The oversized pockets were great to carry smaller items that you don’t want to pack away like lighters, extra batteries, loose change, a buff, pocket knife, flashlight, etc. I really carried all of that and had room for more. The hydration bladder pocket was excellent. It makes the jacket even heavier naturally but having water without carrying a separate pack was a feature I didn’t expect to love dearly. Opening and closing the vents on the fly are a bit cumbersome but I guess that’s a trade off for them being waterproof. I’ve got about 1000 miles on it so far and I think by 2000 miles it should be broken in and feel just like home. I even used the large waterproof back pocket to stow my small overnight bag in lieu of strapping on a tail bag. I wanted the blue and it was sold out in xl so I opted for the xxl, it swallowed me at first but after packing all of the pockets with my gear and 3l water bladder it filled out nicely and only the arms are just a bit too long. I have a friend that ordered the xl and after trying his on, the shoulders in the xl would have been slightly too narrow for me. I would describe this jacket as a tank, it has some weight but it moves well and offers a ton of features and doesn’t cost $1000

MSR Xplorer Adv jacket is a winner!
It was time for new Adv riding gear and high-quality waterproof attire was the goal. I went with MSR Xplorer jacket and pants and have been quite pleased. After 3-weeks of frequently rainy riding around the Isle of Man (yes, during TT race week!) and then the north of Scotland, this jacket has more than met my expectations. Quality construction, very useable pockets and vents, and a great fit. I would really have no suggestions for improvement and feel it is a great value when compared to all higher and lower priced products.

FIt and usage review
OK, just received a set of gear , here's MY first impressions on FIT only, (have not used it on a ride yet):I'm 5"11 or so, and 245 lbs , maybe 47/48 size in chestTypical motorcycle gear I would need to get an XXL or higher in order to fit me (think RevIt brand) , the XL jacket size is a PERFECT fit for me.Also, I would wear a pant size typically of 38/40 length x 30 inseam.. the size 38 MSR pant fits VERY well, and i swear feels almost tailored to fit me . Both still fit with base and midlayers underneath. The pants I could see getting a bit too tight IF i put on a few extra lbs, but the range of motion on these things is EXCELLENT!I do feel that tightness in the elbows a bit, BUT its not that noticeable for me, and honestly, if someone else hadn't pointed it out, i might not have even noticed it..The material feels very tough, and that superfabric feels bulletproof...They seem like gear that will last me a LONG time, BUT time will tellThe one question I have regarding the eVent fabric, is they say to 'wash it often' .. what is often? once a month, after every ride, twice a year? I'd be curious to find that out , otherwise by far, hands down, the burliest riding gear I've ever owned..EDIT: ok, after using on a couple large rides, i do notice that the neck opening seems a lot larger then it needs to be.. prob better a bit larger than too small, but im curious how that handles waterproofing, and cold temps.. maybe a neck gaiter is all i need to add? we'll seeOn a recent ride, i got smacked by a bee on my neck going about 40 mph.. got stung pretty bad, feel like the neck is a bit too exposed,. THe isuse with the neck drawstring, when you tighten it, is that when it tightens, it lays down , making the opening smaller, but maybe even exposing more of your neck itself..Still have yet to take it through a rain storm, so cant attest to the water proofing just yet, but no issues in water crossings.Vents: incredible. they work so good, have never had a jacket that the vents work that well on.. not a replacement for my mesh jacket on super hot days, but def been using it in much warmer weather than i had anticipated2025 update ::Getting some normal wear and tear , still fits very well… had a zipper get stuck in the pants pockets , but was able to free it .Still havnt worn it Ina downpour , so still can’t speak to its full water proofing. For reference, I have the version 1 of this suit. loving it still , the vents are still amazing. I recently wore only a long sleeve shirt / base layer with the jacket , on a cooler day than anticipated.. zipped up the jacket and did well at keeping me warm , still wish neck was smaller opening and taller

sizing is correct
Been looking at MC clothing for some time. Sizing has always been an issue. This jacket fits great and I can fit a mid layer underneath. Remember this is an outside shell. It''s great alone down to high 50's. Layers is the key (which I prefer). Very good airflow and have worn it into the Low 80's comfortably. Updated with CE 2 armor also I rode in heavy rain and the jacket kept me dry.The quality is great! I hear people comparing it to a Klim. I wouldn't know as I wouldn't spend the insane amount of money they want for Klim. But it's a great jacket for the money!

Excellent quality
Unfortunately I found the neck line to loose for my liking. living in the Pacific Northwest and riding year round I don’t want any gaps. It’s to bad as I was really wanting to keep this jacket. It’s much lighter than I expected, which is nice as it makes for a more comfortable all day jacket.

A great jacket for the money. Just as good as Klim. And a lot of people said the jacket looks great.

Saved me
I purchased the MSR adventure jacket and pants not long after I bought a 2024 Africa Twin. I’m a beginner motorcycle owner. The Twin is probably not for beginners. I challenged at a moderate speed a tight S turn . Drove off the road down a steep bank . I flipped over the handle bars , landed on my right shoulder. Wound up laying on my back in front of the bike . I laid there an about 30 seconds waiting for the pain to kick in. Not much pain so I got up the bike up down off the bank into a corn field. Two husky men showed and helped me balance the bike and get back on the road. Crash bars saved the bike from serious damage ( $1200) . You really see the damage. I continued my afternoon ride in southern Ohio.
