Does this give the same results as a regular laptop

Same results? No. But it does function as a inexpensive WIndows 10 laptop, if you're willing to accept its limitations. You don't get the same results as a regular laptop for two major reasons. 1) Being tablet, the emphasis is on battery life and size, not speed. As such, you won't get the same performance (aka results) that you'd get with a normal laptop, even a cheap one, because the battery on a tablet is much smaller than what you'd see on a laptop. Programs will run slower, and some will be so slow, they'll be practically unusable. For example, don't other editing videos or playing graphics intensive games. 2) It only has 2gb of memory to run programs. That means very few programs can be loaded into memory, limiting multitasking. And your internet browser won't be able to open too many tabs at once. Furthermore, you can't load too much data into memory, i.e. you can't edit large files. No modern laptop has less than 4gb and many have 8gb. So it's a true WIndows 10 computer, but its performance is so limited that most people won't want to make it their primary computer. One hint is to use Microsoft Edge as your browser because it is optimized for the Insignia's low-power CPU. Other browsers like Firefox and Chrome are much slower, especially if open multiple tabs. I experience lag with just three open tabs in both Chrome and Firefox. That said, it's an excellent inexpensive secondary laptop and tablet (although it's a bit heavy and large to hold too long). For example, it's nice to use in bed or on a subway ride, where a keyboard is unusable and unwieldy. It's also great for taking notes in class because it's so thin and light. And being a tablet, it's more convenient for reading eBooks and websites. But perhaps the best feature is that, being a tablet, it has a back camera. That means you can actually record a lecture on video or take photos of slides, etc, while typing notes. Do realize, however, that the resolution is pretty low. That means that you probably can't capture writing on the board clearly unless you're sitting in the front row. But the option to rec video and graphics can be a major plus because a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a million. This is especially for classes where you need to watch a procedure.

Does is have the play store?

Just to be clear, it has the Microsoft app store, NOT the Android Play store. This is a Windows 10 tablet/laptop hybrid.

Can you hook up a cable and play on a tv such as in a motel? i have diretv and would like to watch when on the road

I have one of these PCs and the micro HDMI cable just came in today from Amazon. I can play video on a bigger TV but it's not output from, say a video program... it mirrors the screen. So if you shut the case so not to have two screens... the video disappears.

What are the power specifications of the original charger it comes with (Watts, Volts, Amps)?

The appropriate charger for this would be a USB C connector supplying 5v at at least 3 amps. You can use less amperage but it will not be able to keep up while it is on and being used.
