Great lights, practical or fun, your choice
I have bought 2 of these now and they work great. I put one above my kitchen cabinets, and made some wall art with the other. (See pics) The connectors I bought (FSJEE 10mm 5050 RGB LED Strip Light Connectors Kit) had some quality control issues, but these lights worked great. I used the whole strip in the kitchen and cut the other one up for the art piece. The kitchen ones work great with Alexa and for the art piece I just used the app. No issues, will definitely buy again.

Alexa turns on TV Backlights on automatically, or when I command
I put this LED Strip behind my 60" TV. I configured Alexa to turn the lights on about 5pm and off about 930pm (prime viewing time) It works great! I recently added a 2.4Ghz/5.8Ghz wifi router and struggled to connect on the 5.8, because the (grammatically poor) instruction manual uses tiny print to explain the device will only work on 2.4. I performed a Factory Reset (easy) and I was able to configure the lights after that.MagicHue is the IFTTT app of choice, but I couldn't search it in IFTTT, only via MagicHome Pro (free Android App.) I can now command my strip to be various % levels, and different colors. I would like to see custom functions added to Alexa's voice commands because I programmed (easy) a RGB color fade, but cannot request it from Alexa. I could however, set the RGB fade and command Alexa to turn the device on/off.

Awesome & works with Alexa!
These are pretty awesome. A lot better than the Phillips Hue light strip and so much cheaper. Easy to setup and easy to work with Amazon Alexa. Also the app is very user friendly to change colors and such. Ill post some pictures.FYI: The Light rope on the floor is something completely different.

Works really well, just needs Alexa strobe capability
Light strip works really well. Just keep in mind when you first set it up that your phone has to be connected to a 2.4 ghz WiFi connection which it states in the app. Accidentally tried to connect mine to the 5ghz connection and the WiFi adapter would not connect. Tried to reset since I could not immediately change the WiFi connection since somehow the WiFi adapter went in limbo and the reset process on the app didn't help. Ended up just immediately plugging and unplugging the light strip from the wall several times instead of waiting 5 seconds which reset the WiFi adapter and now the lights work beautifully. My only complaint about the strip is that Alexa cannot make the strip strobe flash like you can on the app.... That functionality (unless there is a certain trick to it) would have been nice to see.

Use a 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Works great. IR control worked out of the box. I had trouble with WiFi setup and was presently surprised with the level of technical support from YiHong. Even is you have a scanning WiFi router with 2.4Mhz the WiFi this unit will not attach. I reset one of the WiFi accounts to 2.4 only and I was able to connect to my phone with the MagicHome App but not Google Assistant. To get Google assistant working I had to turn off phone data, go a factory reset of the YiHong controller. I then reconnected the device through MagicHome and followed the prompts to relink the WiFi controller to MagicHome, and the router connection to the controller. At that point I was able to run Google's Home app on my phone, select MagicHome and the WiFi controller became available to Google Assistant. In short - start with a 2.4GHz network. Don't be afraid to do a factory reset on the WiFi controller. YiHong technical support was great.

The lights themselves are AMAZING, and the ability to use them on WiFi
Ok, so after much thought here is my honest review. The lights themselves are AMAZING, and the ability to use them on WiFi, priceless. My one and only one concern is the software that is used to run the light set itself. There are modules at the bottom of the app that let you choose from a variety of things such as custom fading, picture mode, music mode, microphone mode. The only problem with the modules is that they like to randomly disappear. So when that happens, you no longer get Microphone mode, Music mode, or Camera mode. Instead you get the 3 most basic modes that come with it. I think that this is a software issue as I've followed every direction that their support person as me too, and then I redid them several more times and the same happens each and every time. So what I ended up doing is getting a 3rd party wifi light app, and it worked amazingly well. Which again leads me to believe that they have a critical problem in the coding of the app in which they've released. So with this being said, you can choose to use the lights with the app included with mixed results, or you can use a 3rd party app to get the lights to work the way they were designed, or finally, just buy a different set of lights that you dont have these issues with in the first place. On a side note however, the customer service was impeccable and they did everything they could possibly do to help me solve the issue, and when it couldnt be worked out, they did not hesitate to send me a new set of lights in the hopes that, that would alleviate the problem. So I am thankful to them for that.
