Diamond Select - Star Trek: The Next Generation USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D (All Good Things)

This is the "on-steroids" Enterprise-D from the "All Good Things" final episode of Star Trek TNG.This was the future version of the Galaxy-class Enterprise, which, commanded by Admiral Riker, came to the rescue of Picard et al when they were attacked by Klingons in an alternate timeline.Was it all in Picard's imagination? Did this ship ever really "exist?" Who cares! It's here thanks to Diamond Select, and for the most part, it's great.The attention to detail on this is way beyond toy level, and closer to a professionally painted AMT/Ertl model. It's clear that, very much like the studio model on which it is based, the extra bells and whistles have been added on to the existing regular Galaxy-class model that DS also produce. As a result there's the odd small panel gap in places, and you might find the odd window "chopped" in half by a new section, and on both models I have the phaser "lance" is slightly offset to the right where the two hulls meet, but these are minor details.Both my models (I'll explain why I have two in due course) have light bleed in a couple of places - most notably on the saucer impulse engines, but it's really not that bad. If it did bother you, it would be possible to paint over the outsides of the engines with a Humbrol maroon or similar.The compensation is that the lighting is excellent. On fresh batteries the engine nacelles glow a brilliant blue, and everything that should glow red, does glow red. The saucer separates via a clever magnetic mechanism - this too is excellent but do be careful when putting the two hulls back together as the magnets are strong. I recommend holding the saucer upright and matching it up to the stardrive section, then lowering it as gently as possible into place.Overall, in my opinion, I think it is better to look at and behold than the Diamond Select Bird of Prey model.The reason I have two is that my first model arrived without the blank pieces that are placed over the screws to hide them. It was a pretty unsightly omission, but when I raised my concern with Comic Cave Hamburg and supplied a photo I was sent another model by Armin free of charge. This one does have the correct screw covers in place and I cannot praise the customer service from Comic Cave highly enough.Diamond Select have not replied to my second email about the problem, so if like me you are fussy and collecting a model for display and not a toy, I recommend buying from a specialist seller like Comic Cave, rather than a generic distributor.So I find myself having to knock one star off for poor quality control at Diamond Select, but it feels a little harsh as in all other respects this is an excellent model, and they deserve a lot of credit for producing it in the first place. It may seem a little pricey but I guarantee that, compared to what has gone before, this satisfyingly large ship, which compares well even to the AMT kit, is well worth the purchase price.Classic Trek fans should have no fears really - this is a very worthy collector's item and you should go right ahead and treat yourself.

Works like a charm, with the lights and sound, was delivered and received earlier than I anticipated since it came all the way from Germany. Thoroughly enjoyable product.

I bought this with the diamond select enterprise E got that one first which I was not to impressed with but this one wow makes me want to be a kid again utterly fantasticA good feature on it is that at a press of the button the lights come on and easily switch of by pressing the same button but it lookse amazing when lit upI have had no problems with it in full working order and functions great overall it's worth the money in detain lookse and fun

The size and diameter match what is stated and you'll find that a decent size model, lights up and makes noises too, bit plasticy but for the price was a steal, brother loves it as it's harder to find a example of the future enterprise D.

This is a absolutely awesome model came way before time. Highly detailed good size and the sounds are pretty cool. And lights up really well too. Would recommend this to anyone and I'm definitely buying from these guys again.
