Save your money
I reconstructed some pvc pipe in my well house. After I replaced the busted pipe I had a very slow drip. There wasn’t a lot of room to work, so I thought these things might save me some time, rather than replacing a whole group of fittings again. I read the reviews saying that they were hard to put on. Still, I’m pretty handy, and I figured I could get it figured out. When I received the rings, I found them easy to snap onto raw pvc pipe. However, when I went to snap them onto my well pipe (after applying primer and glue), I found them nearly impossible to snap on. Using a pair of pliers and a screw driver, I eventually got one snapped into place. By that time I had pretty much screwed up the integrity of the glue. Also, the ring wasn’t quite tight against the fitting after all the contortions it took to get it closed. Once closed it wouldn’t budge. I repeated this a few times with a few different rings. Eventually I just replaced the section of pipe. $30 lesson learned.

Great Concept. Poor Application
This leak repair ring looked like it was perfect for my PVC leak. Even the demo video showed the exact same

These work great, but do your prep!
These things are great! I had one leaking fitting after a major rework. I didn’t want to tear the whole thing apart and do it over for one joint, so I bought these repair rings. Nothing to lose, right?!I used a razor to remove excess glue from the pipe and fitting. Per the instructions, I primed it well. Then I slipped the ring on the pipe below the leak, fastened it with my fingers (no tools!), spread the glue and then slid the ring up into place and held it right for 30 seconds. After a few minutes I repressurized the system and checked the leak. It was dry as a bone! Repair accomplished in about three minutes.Proper preparation is key. The ring has to bond well with the bottom of the fitting, so old glue removal is critical. Also, these are meant for slow leaks, not gushers. If your leak is spraying, you might have to redo it. But try this repair first. It’s cheap and easy. Good luck!
