Edge the Lawn
I used it to edge the lawn at the dirt and gravel driveway. I used two tent stakes and a string, and proceeded to cut along that line. It did the job beautifully. This is one tough knife.

Ninja'ed my fountain grass
I ordered this to tame some fountain grass and promote flowering. I bundled the grass into a 4-5 inch thick stalk. I felt like a ninja assassin! This kama shaped scythe was perfect for the task and sliced through in two strokes. I was hoping for a heavier hardwood for the handle, but after using it, I can see the advantage of it being so light weight. The weight would definitely help with fatigue on big jobs. I'll post an update on how the metal blade and hardware holds up over time.

Not as sharp as a razor
It cuts weeds and grass okay

Slices through weeds
This is an amazing tool. I bought two of these types of tools at the same time. The other one is much bigger and heavier. This one is more the weight of a heavy kitchen knife. It is very sharp. It cuts through grasses and some of the other common weeds with ease, but even if it doesn't, a little bit of a sawing motion makes it go right through. I can't believe I've spent so many decades gardening without something like this. It doesn't really cut through small saplings and I still need to use clippers for those.

BIG difference!
I do weeding for two senior communities and the citizens tend to wait until they are desperate to call me, so they have big root problems on top of the waist high weeds. This little tool makes a HUGE difference in the amount of energy I have to expend as well as the time used. It cuts through the roots, reaches into tight spots and levers out hart to pull weeds with ease! If I had to choose ONE hand tool, this would be it.

Sharp blade, short handle; terrible packaging
The stainless steel blade and its teeth are strong and sharp. The handle is quite short, even for this sort of tool, and the blade is attached to the handle in a way that is not very sturdy because the holes in the wood enlarge a bit as pressure is put on the blade, and so the blade becomes little by little less fixed and rigid. Still good, but not ideal. The packaging for this product was terrible--about the worst I've seen from Amazon. It came in a little plastic envelope and the blade had poked a hole in one end and the bottom of the handle had poked a hole in the other end--amazing that the tool did not fall out entirely.

Easy to use AND no strength needed!
I have gardened for YEARS and have many plants so I am surprised that I never stumbled upon this phenomenal (and inexpensive) hand tool for cutting down thick Phlox stalks; Day Lily leaves; Japanese Iris leaves, etc. Just place the cutting edge next to the bottom of the clump of leaves while you are holding the plant with the other hand, and pull the tool towards you. That's it! Easy and quick! I wish I had bought it years ago!

Nisaku NJP150 6" SAW TOOTH GRASS/WEEDING SICKLE
This is a slightly different sickle than the original one i bought several years ago. It looked almost the same so i bought it. It has a slightly different angle than my original one, but it actually works slightly better in some tasks like edging. I use it in my gardening to cut back grass, cut down plants, etc. It is one of those functional things that have come down from pragmatic people who make functional designs. I despise ornamental things that don't work. This is a simple but truly beautiful design that just plain works and feels like an old friend.
