Very good for the price
I've been struggling with overheating at night for about 7 yrs (good old menopause). I got to the point of laying on the waterbed with just a sheet and no heater to suck the heat out of me but then I got chills, and not much back support. When we gave up our waterbed a few months ago per doc's suggestion we replaced the water mattress with air mattresses. This left us with not enough plush feeling to the bed but much better support. Cue the foam pads. Memory foam - yikes, WAY too hot, gave that to my daughter. Regular convoluted latex foam - better but still, not so great, woke up roasting at 2 am. Convoluted "gel" foam - better for part of the night. We already own 4 of the isocool pillows and I found myself thinking I'd just cut them up and lay on the cooling material, then noticed they made this pad. It was a lot of money to risk but I was desperate for good sleep. The first couple nights I used it over another mattress pad and the gel foam thinking it would be more cushy but it was really cool for a bit and then wham, overheated. As a last ditch effort I used just the gel foam with this mattress pad. Ah.... finally! Now I'm not going to say I don't still get warm but it's definitely much better. If before was a 10 this is a 5. Wearing cotton pjs helps as well, as silk traps heat. All in all I would suggest this mattress pad as something to essentially negate the foam overheating issue. It's like you're sleeping on a regular non foam bed, temp wise. I did not have any trouble with my sheets slipping, not sure what is going on there with other folks but my sheets are good and deep and 600 tc cotton. I have not tried to wash it yet and I consider washing to be a major part of a review so I with-hold 1 star until then.

Changes the Comfort of Memory Foam Mattress
We have a King size, 12" Original Mattress Factory Mattress with an 3" open cell memory foam topper. My wife gets very hot in bed which is why we got the Open Cell topper.I was looking for something to protect our memory foam topper that would not add to her overheating. This ISO-COOL Mattress Pad was very a reasonable Price. It seems well made and is made in the USA. The thecinal description of this product sounds impressive!!!This is what we found.1. This ISO COOL Pad is Not as cool as sleeping directly on the open-cell topper with just a sheet covering it. When you first lay down, it is VERRY COOL, but doesn't stay that way for very long.2. The "TightGrip skirt" is supposed to fit a 20" mattress. No Way, Not True! With our combined 15" mattress/topper, we were barely able to strech the pad skirt onto the corners with the sides of the skirt curving upwards quite a bit. The top of the 3" memory foam topper compressed 2" on each corner.3. The top of the pad is quilted, which is probably good for a conventional mattress. On memory Foam it doesn't allow the memory foam to contour to your body like it should. That defeats the benefit of using Memory Foam. Also the pad was pulled very tight overall because of the tight fit of the skirt, which adds to that disadvantage.I don't recomend The ISO-COOL mattress pad for a Memory Foam Bed.I'm not Happy at all with the money I've spent on this and hoping I can sell it.Update on November 8, 2013. Rather than shelling out more money to protect our topper/mattress, I tried a different way of attaching this pad to our bed. We are now attaching it only to the 3" memory foam topper. That has made it much less tight and more comfortable. The fitted sheet keeps everything from slipping. I still don't think this pad is the best for a memory foam bed or topper.

but I wouldn't notice this much as I love the cold and don't have a heater
This thing is a lifesaver in both summer AND winter.First thing to know is that it regulates body heat more than it cools. You will feel a cooling effect at first as the material adjusts to your body temp. You probably won't feel it if you're wearing clothes to bed. I keep this on during the winter because I feel it also helps keeps me warm...but I wouldn't notice this much as I love the cold and don't have a heater.Second thing to know is that this has almost no chance of staying set on your bed. Shift your butt just once and it's all over the place. Sheet anchors easily fix this. I used Bedbands and only have to mess with it when I take it off to clean.Third thing, if you have a memory foam mattress/topper you will loose some of the engulfing goodness that we all love about laying on memory foam. It's a trade-off, but I'm happy with slightly less cushy now that it doesn't feel like I'm Satan's little spoon all night (memory foam can get HOT).Finally, the cooling portion covers 75% of the bed. the top quarter has no cooling goodness as I guess that's where they cheaped out thinking a pillow would over that. I guess that's ok unless you don't sleep with a pillow or sleep with your arms under the pillow. I do both at times and I certainly notice.Ultimately, I'm happy with the cover. I get hot very easily and am a heavy sweater. I used to wake up in the summer looking like I ran a 5k in Death Valley. Now I just wake up a little annoyed when it's hot....no changing or shower needed before running out to get my morning coffee.

Sleeping Better So Far
This seems to be a well made mattress pad. I bought it for our Tempurpedic mattress which heats me up uncomfortably. Have slept on it for 3 nights with a regular bottom sheet over it.. So far, I must say that it works best with maximum skin contact. If I wear even a very thin cotton pair of pajamas, I don't get the cooling effect. As I have never been a nude sleeper, I've just been wearing short PJ pants and a sleeveless ExOfficio tank and that works pretty well. I still get hot spells, but no sweating and wet sheets. There was no indication of which end of the the pad did not have the 12 inches of Outlast cooling. I put it on the bed with the one tag towards the foot end. This appears to be the part with no Outlast.Oct. 3, 2015: Almost one month now, and I still am liking the cooling effect of the mattress pad. I bought similar pillow cases and that was no help at all-I don't know why, but I still am sweating about the head and neck at night.

Not Cool
This mattress cover was well made. However it did not make my bed any cooler, thus I returned this item.

Three Stars
It is cool when you first get in bed but heats up with body temp.

DOESN'T KEEP YOU COOLER
Doesn't do anything to keep you cooler and more comfortable at night. If you want a mattress pad, it is fine for that.

Four Stars
It still gets somewhat damp at night but nowhere near as damp as before.

I bought this to put over our much too hot ...
I bought this to put over our much too hot memory foam mattress. Alas, it did not help at all.
