It is square, it is a plate, what more do you want to know?It did not noticeably stain after having some greasy tomato on it.It is not a laser/polished flat surface, but is very smooth.It is strong enough to not crack under modest force.

Nice and lightweight
The plates are lovely, durable, look nice and lightweight.I've seen some comments stating it's not microwave safe. I've had no problem so far as I've followed the instructions provided by the brand of not to exceed 1 minute in microwave.
