Mess and time saver
I previously used a mason jar funnel and a spatula to get the coffee power into my moka pot's funnel and leveled. The mason jar funnel did not fit quite right so there were always spills and coffee wasted. This powder dispenser keeps all the coffee powder in the moka pot's funnel and tamps it down efficiently. The paper filters that come with it are a nice bonus too.

It works
I got a moka pot during a fit of nostalgia and wanting to connect with my nana. I'm not sure how crazy I am about it and may go back to my pour over technique. I weigh out my grounds and this helps the bits not spill out. If you are a moka devotee, it certainly will improve your coffee making experience, it can't hurt.

nearly useless
This item fits my vintage Italian 6 cup Moka pot nicely, and it does act reasonably well as a funnel, but using it as designed by rotating it to level out the grounds in the Moka pot’s funnel filter just doesn’t work very well at all.Unless you’re only adding the precise amount of fresh grounds needed to the “powder distributor” there will always be some grounds left in a pile on top of the pot’s filter funnel and caught in the distributor. And when you pick it up, it spills, of course, all over the counter… AND then you still have to level the grounds in the filter funnel and clean the edge so the gasket makes a good contact. What’s the point of using this gadget at all? It’s easier to place your Moka pot in a plastic container, overfill your Moka pot’s filter funnel and then screed off the excess with a knife. That way the excess grounds fall into the pint container and you can pour them back into your coffee canister. A quick wipe with your finger to clean the rim and you’re good to go.I do like the paper filters that come with this set. They did a good job of filtering out the sludge that always seems to get through my Moka pots.

Keeps the coffee in the pot, not on the counter
You know how it is in the morning, you're groggy and not altogether there. I don't know how many times I've spilled coffee grounds on the counter trying to fill my Moka Pot. Well, this little guy fits right over, put the coffee in, push down and you are good to go! A true Coffee Mate!
