Nice knife great value
This is a cool little thing. It looks like the renaissance fairs but doesn’t only have a pretty face. It is durable ,very sharp, and a good value for the money. Fits the hand nicely and it cuts and serves food turn it to the side and it serves like a pancake flipper. Works great with lasagna. It seems to be durable.

Great Value
I bought this Matsato chef knife for about $29. First of all the knife is made in China even though much of the statements mention Japanese steel methods. The actual steel grade is not mentioned but since it is magnetic and not dishwasher safe my guess is a 400 series stainless steel which is common for cutlery. Many reviews either say the knife is very sharp or very dull out of the box. That's subjective. I have experience with knife sharpening and can tell you mine was sharp enough. It had some pull. I ran it on an Arkansas stone as a matter of routine for me and the edge got super sharp. That thin slicing tomato crap is non-existent on any knife so that is not a good measure at all. A tomato needs a serrated blade. Period. As with most Stainless steel knives the sharpness will soon disappear. That's why chefs use a hone or steel so often. It has a full tang thru the handle. The rivets and wood are tight to the tang. No wobble. The wood handle is symmetric on both sides. The balance is fair with it being slightly heavier on the handle end. No biggie. All in All this knife is an outstanding value, well made and I recommend it.

Kitchen Knife Matsato
For the price, not too bad. I got It for $55. It stayed sharp for a bit. With the help of a wet stone. Not too bad at holding an edge long enough to get the job done. It has good ergonomics. I mean, I think this knife for sure Is stamped or lathed steel though. But for what It Is, at the price. I dig It. Plus the blade doesn't look half bad.

SHARP! And FUN to Use:-)!
This is a great knife! So sharp - even chopping onions is fun now! But be careful - it IS sharp! I suggest that you treat the handle with mineral oil though... otherwise, LOVE THIS!!! Just don't drop it on your foot:-)

Bait and switch
I hate the lies and deliberate misleading ads for these knives or any company that misleads you it's unethical and this is a perfect example of a bait and switch. This is advertised as Japanese made knife and when you get it and look on the back it's made in China. The ad shows Japanese hand hammering, fabricating a hand made knife when it appears to be powdered metal completely different than lead to believe. So now it is a good knife, very sharp and dangerous but i thought I was buying a Matsato hand made knife when I got was a Huusk that cost almost $10 less so but the Huusk you will save money and get the same knife.
