Is the tension/friction on the fluid head adjustable?

Yes. The head panning friction is adjustable with the blue locking ring for stepless panning.

I'm interested in buying the am-25s only if i can get a spare quick release plate. so can anyone tell me the part number of the surui qr plate?

My purchase was model #AM-15S whish is a shorter height tripod that I use for a spotting scope. There was an embossed # under the quick release plate which was #BA1423328. I believe that the AM-25S and the AM-15S heads are identical but could be mistaken. I searched that number on Sirui's website but nothing came up. I would try contacting them by phone or email.
