All The Goals Of The 2006 World Cup [DVD]

Competent guide to the 2006 World Cup
This blu-ray disc pretty much delivers what it promises and is a significant inprovement on the Pierce Brosnan dvd of the 2006 world cup. It was great to observe the many fantastic goals from this tournament in high definition. All the Goals blu-ray is well organised being neatly indexed by a group by group basis. I like the way each goal is shown several times and from different camera angles. Each goal is accompanied by full commentary; admitedly some of the commentary is a little bit cheesy but at least the commentators show life and passion for the material at hand. This is in direct contrast to the listless Pierce Brosnan commentary on the alternative 2006 World Cup disc available for purchase.Furthermore, you get a round up of each group at the conclusion of it, which shows you the group table and the qualifiers. A type of chart showing each of the teams route to the final is also illustrated at the conclusion of each round. Bonus content on this blu ray is limited but you are treated to the top 10 goals and top 10 saves of the tournament. For some reason Maxi Rodiguez's wonder strike is selected as the top goal as opposed to the sublime team goal from the Argentinians. On the downside not all the penalty shoot out kicks are included on this blu ray disc, which is disappointing. Additionally, no further content beyond the goals is shown from the matches, even the infamous Zidane headbutt is omitted. However, this is the best disc available that covers this tournament so I would readily recommend it.

Review Of All The Goals 2006 blu ray
I have given this product 5 stars despite what you might consider its deficiencies if you are looking for a more complete record of the 2006 World Cup.Read Marco Busani's excellent 4 star review of what you get on this dvd.You can also read the names of some of the 'star' goalscorers featured, by 'zooming' the dvd cover which lists those names at the top.Needless to say, some of the brilliant team and individual goals scored feature less well known players. To look on the positive side, you get excellent tv style footage - not arty film footage switching camera angles to pitch level in mid-action like you get in some of the deplorable FIFA films. The quality of the football you get is generally very high, which you would expect at a World Cup.The blu ray version also gives you superb picture quality, and is currently available on Amazon at virtually giveaway prices.I also welcome the top 10 saves feature included in the extras which is a brief reminder that football is not all about goalscoring. I also like that the earlier goals are shown group by group, and the group table outcomes are then displayed. The extras could admittedly have been improved as a record of the tournament overall.Apart from the top 10 saves you only get top 10 goals which you already have in the main body of the dvd, and is personal opinion anyway. What you would probably want is a brief docu of the key features of the tournament including player skills and those infamous sendings off. And perhaps brief highlights of the Final at the very least. That aside, apart from many of the penalty shoot-out goals which are missing, the dvd does deliver great footage of all the goals scored in open play with slo-mo and reverse angle replays which are a joy to watch. In summary, if you love high quality football you cannot grumble at what you can currently get for your money on this blu-ray.

Show all goals but not all penalty shots after OT
The film shows all of the goals of the World Cup 2006 held in Germany. The film show the goals within a game of each group. One minus point - it does not show all of the penalty shots after overtime. It shows circa 3 or 4 including important miasses and the final shot. The index shows Groups a-c; d-f; G-H; 1/4 finals; semi-finals; and Final. There are extras - the best 10 goals and the best 10 saves. My only complaint is that they didn't show ALL of the goals - those of the deciding penalty shots. I highly recommend the DVD which is much better than "All the Goals" issued in Germany by the ARD. There they have all the goals BY nation not by game!

STUNNING!
I got this and played it via the xbox360 HiDef player through my HD projector and it was STUNNING!.The content is very good and it does capture the mood of the event very well.I now have sky hd (and I love it) if you have it and you think that's good, then you may be surprised to learn that (IMHO) the quality of the video in this HDdvd is better.

A good dvd, only let down by the fact it doesn't show any of the 0-0 draws or red cards. Ridiculous considering the notoriety of the headbutt in the final! But cannot complain considering how reasonable the price was.In regards to delivery, it arrived ahead of the delivery date, and very good condition.

Gooooooooooooal!
Football in Blu-Ray isn't perhaps the most spectacular of the high definition genres, but watching the magical strikes from Germany 2006 is an enjoyable pleasure. From Lahm's tournament opener, to Joe Cole's volley against Sweden it is a collection of impressive goals that will remind you of the fantastic tournament held in Germany.

Below average tournament!
Decent footage in high definition of a below average tournament. I only brought it as a history of players that were around then. Skimmed through it but probably won't watch it again until 5 years time as nostalgia.
