Remington HC5950 Touch Control Haircut Kit, Black

Very cheap quality. I purchased this because it was wireless and had the touch control option. After approximately 3 months of use--the power now shuts off every 4-5 seconds while shaving; pulling the hair and causing significant irritability and discomfort. My $25, 15-year-old shaver works 100x better. I regularly cleaned the shaver so improper use/maintenance was certainly not the issue. When shaver is turned on (for the few seconds it works) the screen displays scrambling, unreadable numbers. I would give 0 stars, but not an option. I rarely take the time to post a review, even when disappointed with my purchase, however with the expensive price tag on this shaver, it seemed necessary to do so.

I was kind of nervous about these clippers because of some of the reviews on possible defects but am happy I got themI got my set of clippers on February 20th and checked them out for a couple of days before reviewing. The set of clippers I received are different than the ones in the pictures up above.My first impression is that these are some pretty good looking clippers! I have had over 20 pairs of clippers, and these are the first set of clippers that I can say are really good looking. The style is sleek and the pictures really don't show just how good these clippers look. The front edges on either side are actually silver stripes going down; I have included a picture of them that may show them better. The side profile of these clippers are almost svelte. These clippers just really look nice all around. The look of them are what caught my eye in the first place and I can say that I will be displaying these clippers because they look that good. Note: If you have friends that you don't quite trust, it would be best to put them up while they are over lol. There are just unique features of these clippers that sets them apart from all other sets of clippers.These clippers feel really good to use. There is a rubber texture on the back that I really like. Sometimes when I am cutting the back of my head, I get a sense that I am going to lose my grip on the clippers but not with these. Another thing I noticed is that THERE IS NO CORD! I literally was able to go around my head and just shave without worrying about the cord wrapping around my neck. The vibration level was very good even on the highest setting, and they are the quietest clippers I have ever had. The cut of them was excellent also. It was a very smooth shave, and I could tell that the blades were really sharp. Although I wear my hair bald, I like the fact that there are so many hair length settings so that I can fade my hair real good if I decide to grow it back in.I found these clippers because I had bought the Remington beard trimmer (shown in the picture) and wanted to see if I could find a set of clippers that would match. I know I sound vain but I like to display my grooming utensils out. Due to the fact that these are cordless, this will be the first time I will display clippers.Like I said, I have had these clippers for only a couple of days, and so far I am happy with them. I hope that these do not have any issues that I have read about. However, if they do there is the 2 year warranty but I would like for these clippers to work for a long time if only for the syle of them. I hope that Remington keeps up with this kind of styling because I really like it.I will review them again if I have any problems but so far so good!

I have been using the HC5950 once a week for the past month without any of the attachments to give myself as close a haircut as possible. It has not been necessary to charge it more than once and the battery display still shows about 20 minutes remaining. I also run it at the lowest power setting. Also purchased at the same time was the Conair HC1100. The Conair seems much more powerful. In fact, I almost feel as though I'm going to nick myself, again without using the attachments. Contrary to the negative reviews, I have had no problems with the digital display and accidentally changing one of the settings -- again, though, I don't use the attachments. Once the clipper is running with the locked switch, you cannot change the settings accidentally, so I fail to see why users are having problems. In unlocked mode, it is easy to change the settings accidentally; however, the clipper will not run in this mode. Whether it is the less powerful motor (my impression) of the Remington vs the Conair, or the lower power setting I am using, I find that the Remington gives a more comfortable haircut than the Conair. I like the versatility of being able to charge from either a wall outlet or my computer, as this was purchased with travel in mind. As others have mentioned, the travel bag is too small -- not a big deal. I see that in Europe Remington sells a lithium powered hair clipper HC5780 which they don't seem to be offering in the U.S. I would have preferred this to the NiMh battery, which the Conair and the HC5780 have.Too soon to tell how long the NiMh battery will last.

This razor has a huge learning curve and takes a while to get used to. I would forget what mm setting I used the time before......it's not as easy as just popping a few clips on and off. But, the biggest reason why I don't like this (and am returning it) is that after just (4) uses it stopped working. All it would do is make a loud high-pitched buzzing sound when I attempted to turn it on. I contacted Remington and they recommended I return it.

I'm not the happiest with this product, it seems to be ok, but the controls are finicky, my first hair cut made me bald, the shut off switch is not there and the instructions make it impossible to understand. Some such a inavaded creation, it isn't user friendly and is had to use. Clippers should be as easy as 1-2-3, this is as easy as 1-2-3-.........99-100.

I loved this product,at first,it has multiple length settings which I was looking for with easy to use digital controls.However it became unusable with the power automatically shutting off.

Product failed just before the 2-year warranty expired. Unfortunately Remington couldn't repair or send me back the same model since the product was discontinued. They did however send me a different model(HC5870) that was comparable in value which I thought was more than fair.I'm giving Remington an extra star for standing by their warranty!
