Are these magnetic? I am looking to use them for magnet fishing and want to get a carabiner that isn't going to get stuck on to magnet.

They don't get stuck even in the strongest magnets. they don't also rust. we had many customers using them for magnet fishing and they are super happy. Just check the review section.

Will this hold a big dog on a leash?

Yes, I think they are sturdy enough. My one caution is that you be sure the carabiner is tightly closed before you walk the dog. If the dog fidgets it could loosen / unscrew itself allowing the leash to come off the carabiner

You have a clip that is red in the picture, but blue in the description. How can I be sure to get a red set?

Can the locking mechanism be removed if need be, or is it permanently attached?

It is doable, but it needs professional tools and equipment. We don't recommend trying it, because you may break the carabiner or may not be able to put it back together.
