Good story bad CD.
I bought this a while back. I did not check it because it was new..when I got several new and and used ( I have learned to check the used ones for scratches etc.)and took them to our local library. A lot of people including shut-ins check out these cd's. When I could I checked it out my self. It was just being processed so I took it on my trip. STILL HAD ORIGINAL TAPE . 3 tapes in skipping. Took it out and checked it..a bubble in the surface not a scratch. Skipped over the bad spot. Next cd I checked more carefully before playing.. same bubble on surface. It broke when touched. Skipped over the bad part. Excellent story. Love Dillan and co. Bad CD / OBV IOUSLY. A production problem from the company.. buy it and check it carefully even if new

ANOTHER GOOD READ
Characters in their usual roles. May need to freshen up plot lines, but still an enjoyable read. Would recommend to a friend.

Sean Dillon
This is one of many Sean Dillon books , by the author Jack Higgins, maybe around 15 books in all,Each and every one is a great read, they get even better when he teams up with a young Billy Salter who`s uncle owns a pub called The Dark Man, which is in London by the docks near the river Thems, they go around killing bad people all for the good of England, A lot off the action centers around the Dark Man,

Not the best
I have been a faithful fan of this series for many years but this latest installment was disappointing. It just did not make sense. There was not a cohesive plot, just little situations that did not lead anywhere. Take Kate for example, what role did she play, what was the purpose of her character? How can she make that shot after a couple of hours of training? Her role wasn't that important but immediately she was part of the inner circle. Hannah without any training suddenly is calling the shots. The Master did not have a specific plan and the end was too simplistic and rushed. No one ever pursued the idea of how he seemed to know everything so quickly. A mole perhaps???? The dialogue seems forced and extremely repetitive. The characters keep telling each other their background even though they know each other well. I do like the characters but I had to go back and read older titles to remember what this series used to be liked. Not the best book for sure.

If you are fortunate enough to have read anything written by Jack Higgins
If you are fortunate enough to have read anything written by Jack Higgins, you can correctly surmise what to expect from the amazingly creative mind of one of the world's true masters of thrillers! This can be done by simply reading his name on the cover. You need not worry about whether his newest work is worth the price or if you will be sorry for investing the time and effort to read the novel when you reach the conclusion. His name alone is sufficient to assure you've made an outstanding selection. As he continues to demonstrate, you can be certain to find a deviously believable plot, clear and concise dialogue which hangs together perfectly, plenty of action, and a dry if somewhat dark sense of humor. The story ends on an unmistakable high point with the good guys victorious and the evil vanquished. I only wish it were possible to award this book more than five stars!

is this the last of Sean???
I have enjoyed all these novels written by Jack Higgins. Like putting on a favorite old pair of shoes. But Jack I think is 90+ and I do not think he picked someone to inherit this series. too bad.

Not that good
It seems that getting older hasn't been a good thing for Mr. Higgins. His writing has become predictable and mundane. In this book Mr. Higgins often repeats character descriptions. It also always seems to rain in "torrents" . So much so that London would surely be suffering serious flooding. Also there is less differentiation among characters then there has been in Mr. Higgin's earlier works. I don't believe I will purchase another of his Sean Dillian books. They seem to be all the same story with less and less differentiation among plot lines.

A glimpse into a world that exists just beneath the surface of everyday life, where good people risk their lives to protect us.
Another great Sean Dillon novel. As always the plot is as current as today's headlines and the villains are clever and a worthy challenge for any of the hard people who risk their lives to protect the public. The characters seem to be aging nicely just as the fans who have kept up with them over the years.have. Perhaps a bit less brash and a bit more careful just like we all become as we go through the years. The next generation is beginning to take a role in the "family business" and learning from the older characters that we've come to know and respect. All in all, a story worth reading and time well spent.

Quality
Jack Higgins knows how to write a great story. Whilst the pattern to his books are similar; there is something comforting about that. The regular players in the cast are all complete characters and I know them very well. Interesting new characters pop up occasionally so that the books are not all the same. A good quick read that leaves you hanging out for the next edition.
